I bought two of these, thinking that one would be used for an HD DVD player I've been planning on getting at some point. One I am using for my cable box. It's a good thing I bought 2 because one was utter junk. It dropped signal with the slightest touch of the cord, and so I suspect it has a short in it somewhere. The one I have connected now works about 99% of the time, but I still get some sound drops or picture skips every once in a while. I may end up going back to component video, since there really isn't a HUGE difference, and non-HD programming actually looks a bit better through component. i'm willing to accept that the cable box connection may be the problem, as the connector is kind of loose, but the fact that one just didn't work worth a darn and the other works mostly fine makes me think there are quality control issues with the cable manufacturer. I went with this brand mainly because I bought their DVI-HDMI connector and it worked great. This cable, however, seems to be hit or miss.
Either way, there's no way I'm shelling out more than 12-15 bucks for a cable. Sorry Monster, I'm just not playing your game.

I have a Samsung LNS4051D 1080i LCD television and was using video component cables previously. I have the samsung 1080i upconvert dvd player. I got this HDMI cable from amazon based on its popularity and reviews from other people and had my expectations set too high.
Honestly this cable might have a very slight picture quality improvement over the video component cable (at least I try to convince myself that there is some improvement) but definitely its not very substantial. I am mainly happy that I can use just one cable for video and audio instead of the 5 cables (3 video component + 2 audio) which I was using previously.
Over all the cable delivers what it is worth. I will continue my research on some other high end cables and see if something better comes to my attention.
So if you are planning to upgrade from video component cable to HDMI, I would not suggest this one. However, if you want a cheap cable to replace your normal video cable, then this will give you a decent quality.

I recently purchased a Playstation 3, and wanted an HDMI cable to connect it to my hi-def television. In the pursuit of this goal, I learned an important lesson: Not all budget HDMI cables are created equal. I first tried a cable from a local electronics mega-store. It was about $12, as I recall, and it seemed OK at first, but after a short while the picture would become plagued by "snow". I could push or otherwise move the cable at the back of the PS3, but this would be, at best, a two or three minute resolution. Needless to say, that cable was returned. I was set to "bite the bullet" and spend (ye gads!) upwards of $70 or more on a cable, but I saw the reviews for this cable on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, as it works flawlessly, so far. So, my advice to those shopping for HDMI cables is to grab this one. :) Or, if you've had a poor experience with another budget-priced cable, don't give up! Having just purchased a LCD HD TV, and spending a ton of money on the TV itself, I was not thrilled in spending more money on a bunch of cables. When I found these, I couldn't believe the price, after seeing so many HDMI cables at exorbinate prices. So I tried them, and after hoping they would work as I had hoped and read in reviews they would, NOTHING, no signal, weak signal, blank screen.
So I called up Dell and ordered some very expensive Belkin HDMI cables and will see if they work.. (They better for that price or they go back)
I am highly disappointed but like my father always told me (didn't take his advice this time)YOU ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, and he is right.
Please, please don't waste your hard earned money for junk, because that is what this cable is,
Looks like they were home made.
Now I am off to buying some optical cables. Any suggestions?

I think this is as good as the expensive over $60 HDMI cables. I wouldn't spend money on the expensive ones. First of all, I'm not a cable junkie nor an expert. However, according to my research, there's no difference in performance b/w the expensive version nor the $12, $15, $20 version when it comes to HDMI since it's all digital.. hole buch of zeros and ones. The durability of the cables... I don't know. But unless you're someone who constantly plugs and unplugs the cables for some reason, it wouldn't matter. Normally, you'd connect the cable and keep it that way for a long period of time, so the durability is not really relevant. Bottomline: This is as good as the expensive ones. I first tried out the expensive Monster brand which was $85. Then I returned it after purchasing this, for the quality was the same. Don't buy the expensive ones.
