Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go Velocity Series 40315 HDMI Cable (Blue, 2 meters)Customer Review: adequate but not as good as MONSTER hdmi sadly Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this cable after reading some of the reviews here on Amazon. I had been using the MONSTER hdmi cable on my current Sony HDMI dvd upscaler and the pictures were beautiful. I had purchased recently a PS3 and did not want to spend another $70 on a MONSTER hdmi cable so I bought this cable instead. Well, comparing the two dvds of Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, she is way hotter using the MONSTER cable. If I had never used the MONSTER cable, I would have thought this cable would have been sufficient. But the detail is much sharper using the MONSTER cable. Let it be known, there is a significant difference between the picture quality in the cables. I wish it weren't so because I'd rather not spend another $70. Actually, I'm just going to be lazy and just switch the MONSTER cable between my regular SONY player and my PS3. I don't want to wear out the PS3 playing regular dvds all the time. I know... I'm super cheap but at least I'm trying not to wear the PS3 out, no matter how futile it might be.
Customer Review: Not the toughest cables but a great price Summary: 5 Stars
These cables are a bit flimsier than the Belkin PureAV AV22300-03 3-Foot HDMI-to-HDMI Audio Video Cable that I used in my initial upgrades but they are less than half the price.
The way I see it is as long as the cables are well manufactured (these are) and you don't abuse them there is no need to over engineer them. These cables work great and cost a fraction of what retailers like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc want you to pay.
The only time I might be concerned is if the cable saw a lot of handling/use (IE: swapping gaming consoles, or dragged across a carpet whenever the console was pulled out to be played, a portable setup that is broken down a lot, etc) in which case I'd go with a heavier cable but for normal usage (where it is plugged in, dropped behind the entertainment center and never touched again these are great.
Customer Review: Who would spend more than this? Summary: 5 Stars
The first HDMI cable I bought was a Monster cable because I was skeptical that a $10 cable could be as good as a $70 cable. For that kind of price difference, there HAS TO be a benefit to Monster cables, right?
So when this cable showed up from Amazon I decided to give it a side by side test. After comparing this $10 cable with a $70 Monster cable, I found there to be no discernible difference between the two.
I have since bought 2 more of these from Amazon and am using a total of 3 of them. They have all been flawless so far and do not function any better than the outrageously expensive monster cable. If I hadn't thrown out the packaging from the Monster cable, I would return it and get a 4th one of these.
If you're a skeptic like I was, I'm telling you that there is no risk here. Save yourself a lot of money and go with these.
Customer Review: There really is a difference Summary: 1 Stars
I bought these cables off Amazon after reading reviews that HDMI cables are all the same. BS! These were the only cables connected to my TV (Dish and DVD) and occasionally the picture would become cartoony and sparkly. All this time I thought the problem was my TV and wished I had my old tube tv back. I eventually called the manufacturer to complain about the quality of their tv's (cuz who wants to spend over a grand for crap) and the customer service rep asked what type of cables I was using, HDMI cables duh. He said I may want to replace them to try and correct the problem. I bought a $30 cable from Walmart (Philips brand), low and behold, fixed. I have to buy another for the dvd player. No matter what some of these so called experts say, there is a difference in quality of cables. Not suggesting paying $100 for some, but these cheap ones are just that, cheap.
Customer Review: Low-cost, high-quality HDMI cable Summary: 5 Stars
What can you say about a cable? If it is a cable intended to carry high bandwith signals, you can say a lot.
Big box retailers and niche sellers are making gobs of money selling high-priced HDMI and component video cables. You can also find a lot of high-priced cables that will not carry a 1080p or 1080i signal. I found this out the hard way, but fortunately was able to get a refund.
Thus, finding a vendor of low-priced, high-quality cables like this one is a boon. This Velocity HDMI cable is an order of magnitude or two less expensive than some other brands - but it delivers the goods. I used this particular cable to hook a BluRay player to my HD TV and the quality at 1080i is absolutely stunning.
The Velocity HDMI cable, as inexpensive as it is, is simply top-notch in terms of quality.
