Customer Review: Good cable that does the job

This purchase was a tossup between the cheap cable and the outrageously priced Monster cable. I spent hours reading reviews, but all the reviewers who said that the cable doesn't matter and you will either get a signal or not, were correct. It produces a pretty good picture if you have a good quality TV. In order to give myself peace of mind, I decided to purchase the top of the line Monster cable for the purpose of comparison, and unless you are very sensitive to colors and details, the differences are very minor. My initial reaction was, I'm glad there isn't a noticeable difference because I'd have to spend more money! The picture from the monster cable is slightly more vibrant and it definitely reduces pixelation from fast moving scenes. But again, you have to be a true videophile in order to notice these subtle variations. My only complaint about the inexpensive HDMI cable is that you do experience some signal and noise interference. For example, if you don't position it in a certain way, the HD picture is grainy and you will have to move it around to get it situated perfectly. I spent some time reading reviews of HDMI cables. If you do that, you will find that the price differences in cables are mind boggling. It really does appear that retail stores are making up for low margins on electronic equipment by charging outrageous prices for certain peripherals and cables.
I purchased the Cables To Go cables based on reviews which basically said they worked as advertised. They were not the very cheapest but they are much less expensive than the cables found in most retail stores.
When I tested my new OPPO DV-980H upconverting DVD player, I found out that these Cables To Go cables do indeed work as advertised. I initially tested the OPPO DV-980H on a Panasonic Versa HDTV that was supposed to display at 1080p. When I used the HDMI cable suppled by OPPO, the OPPO DVD player would not upconvert to 1080p. So I switched out that cable for one of the Cables To Go cables since they are certified to run 1080p, and the OPPO immediately began to display 1080p. What more can I say, they are reasonably priced, and they work.

When I bought my new plasma TV (Samsung PN50A550) from a local home theatre shop, the salesman talked me into getting a Monster HDMI cable (the 800hd model, which normally retails for ~$99). I used to sell electronics in another life, so I should have known better, but I wanted to play with my new TV that day. So when I found these Cables-to-Go, I figured they were worth a shot, certainly at the price, and then I'd return whichever was the worst. When I received these, I A-B'd them and the Monster cable back and forth, on PS3 games, on Blu-ray and DVD movies, and on TV (both HD and regular). I could see absolutely no difference between the two cables, which, considering the $90 price difference, meant the Monster cable got returned. Not that the Monster wasn't a very nice cable - it was - very hefty and well shielded, which might be good for someone who gets a lot of interference in their house. But I don't. And I honestly don't know whether the Cables-to-Go cable shielding isn't just as good.
Anyway, long story short - great cables for cheap.

I was real hesitant to purchase these cables because the price was so low. I read all the reviews by previous buyers and decided to go for it. These are used with my brand new HDTV I bought through Amazon. No problems what so ever. Compared to what everyone else is charging, these are great cables for the price. I have my DVD up-converter connected with these.
When I mentioned to my brother that I got HDMI cables for 9.95, he started freaking out...thinking I just threw $10 out the window. I told him to relax...just because they aren't $50 doesn't mean they aren't good. Once they arrived, my point was proven.
For the price, you just can't go wrong with these. For those who were like me and had no idea if you need these or not...if you have an HDTV, you need these. This is what connects your cable/satelite box, DVD player, BluRay, or game system. You no longer need RCA jacks (yellow, red, white cables). Just a little tip for those at the beginning of their research...like I was just a few weeks ago. ;-)

After ordering the cable, I found one in the HD receiver box. When it arrived several days later, I e-mailed them about returning it. Despite explaining that I never opened the shipping package itself, much less the cable, I accidentally checked one wrong box on their questionaire. They asked for a clarification and I explained the whole thing again. This dragged on for days and at least a half dozen interchanges. Finally, they insisted I post a positive review on Amazon before they would accept the return. I did so but then they stopped replying at all. I kept e-mailing them and finally left phone messages at their corporate HQ. I complained to Amazon which immediately refunded my full charge. Antonline would have deducted about half my cost--a 15% restocking fee and an $8 shipping cost (their site indicated the charge would be about $5). In the process I found a different website that posts product reviews on which Antonline's customers gave the company dismal ratings pretty much across the board. I certainly concur.
