Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 21062 6ft Stereo Audio CableCustomer Review: Fast service -- perfectly functional Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered these cables after some research. Overall, I couldn't be happier, especially for the price. They work perfectly, connecting my MP3 player (Sansa Fuze 8GB) to my my car stereo. Sound quality is excellent -- as good or better than CD. The cable is a good length (6 ft), allowing some options for placing the MP3 while it is playing. There has been some fuss in other reviews that without the 90-degree jack the cable would "pull out," or that the construction seems "cheap." Nonsense. I don't know what kind of monkeys these other people have dancing around their audio equipment, or how much stress you can really put on a wire cable(?) but so far (after about a month of regular use), the cables are still performing perfectly and stay plugged in the way they should. I have had no problems at all, and in fact am enjoying the freedom of playing my own music in the car (instead of listening to the radio, which is now woefully inferior).
I am no audiophile, but like I said, I couldn't be happier. Great cables, great price, fast service. What more do you want? I ordered 4 at one time, just in case the other reviews were right and the construction gave out quickly. I paid less than $12, and, it looks like I will have these back ups for a long time!
Customer Review: Cheap and even postage-free, but there's a fatal "catch." Summary: 2 Stars
Most likely these will serve you well (I paid a pittance in addition to no postage costs) in most "conventional" applications. Unfortunately, my applications are apparently no more conventional than their possessor. I want a 3.5mm audio out from, for example, a Mac Air computer, from an I-Dog, from a pocket-sized iPod speaker, and none of these cables can hack it because the casing--the plastic "wrapping" at the base of the plug--widens too far to allow the plug complete and full access to the jack on the device serving as your sound source.
All you can do is keep ordering more cables with 3.5mm plugs until you land one that's small enough to fit snugly in tight places. Since they're too inexpensive to bother returning, you're likely to accumulate a mile's worth of gratuitous cables before obtaining one that fits. At least the Scorsche retractable cable will fit into a few of the devices that are averse to most 3.5mm cables.
Customer Review: iPhone 3G compatible Summary: 3 Stars
Original July 2009 review-
I bought this cable to connect my iPhone 3G to the AUX input on my car's head unit, and it works perfectly. I am aware that there is a subtle difference between the 3.5 mm jack designed to fit an Apple product and the 3.5 mm jack used for almost every other application imaginable, but this cable works very well in my application. Delivery was prompt and I am very pleased with both the product and the seller.
Update, December 2009-
Shortly after I purchased another identical cable from the same supplier for another vehicle, the first cable purchased in July developed a short in the wiring and became unusable. Time will tell if the second cable holds up any better. The first had easy wear and was not moved around much, so it does not seem very durable. I a downgrading the item to three stars.
Customer Review: Beware of In-Car use Summary: 4 Stars
This appears to be a competent basic level cable. I connected it and it worked perfectly. However, of all the reviewers who experienced a problem with this cable, 75% said it was in-car use, 13% said it was in-home use, and about 13% didn't say where it was used. The extreme temperature range and vibration this cable sees being stored and used in-car must be too punishing for such a basic level cable, causing this unacceptably high failure rate.
In-car users would be wise to choose a heavier duty cable. Heavier duty cables cost more, but so does the constant replacement of cheaper cables. Cable manufacturers and distributors should provide more meaningful cable specifications so consumers can judge and compare cable quality and durability; some manufacturers do (Cables to GO), (Cables for Less), but most don't.
Customer Review: Good product for the price. Summary: 4 Stars
This AUX is definitely not the worst.
It's pretty long, the cord often gets in the way or wrapped around my shifter in the car. The construction quality is pretty good compared to the other cheap auxillary cords on Amazon. It doesn't seem like it will break anytime soon.
The sound quality was just fine the first few days. Recently though the right speaker has a very quiet scratchy noise, a static noise. When you turn the volume up you can't hear it. It's not too distracting.
The item arrived in about four days, I was really surprised actually at how fast I recieved it.
Overall it's a pretty good product. If you have money, get one more expensive, if you don't... this one will not make you feel like you wasted your cash.
