Customer Review: Mixed feelings- Limited Application

I purchased two of these speakers not expecting much in the price range. Therefore, I did not have the expanded expectations of other reviewers (I already own the Bose system). I only needed the speaker for the following two applications in a child's room:
1) Light playing of children's music
2) Playing bedtime stories
Suffice it to say, the device barely meets my limited applications. Sound range is VERY limited when playing music. However, for children's stories or podcasts, the range is acceptable and volume seems sufficient. For traveling with children, the device is compact, making portability fantastic.
One key gripe I do have is that the fit to older Ipods (first gen) is not really good.
The speaker seems better suited for podcasts than music. If you are looking for good sound, you will not find it at this price range.

Sound quality is OK but far from great. However, my bigger problem is that this freezes my iPod about every 15 minutes. I'm not sure whether it's due to my specific iPod or this speaker system. I have a 20 GB 2nd generation iPod, and every 15 or 20 minutes it starts buzzing (as if its resorting its files or something). When not connected to these speakers, the sound coming from the earphones during this "buzz" isnt affected at all. However, when the ipod buzzes WHILE its connected to these speakers, the sound first gets staticky and then my iPod completely freezes. Then I have to take my iPod out, wait for the buzz to be over, and reconnect to speakers and everything is fine. I'm not sure whether its bad connection between the speakers and my iPod or just my iPod's fault, but beware if you have a similar version of iPod.Customer Review: Very Happy!

I normally don't review items, but I do faithfully look at the reviews before I purchase an item. In this case I felt compelled to review the speaker. I am very happy with my purchase. For the price the speaker is surprisingly good. If your looking for a speaker that replaces your whole stereo system this is not for you but if your looking for a speaker that is a good price and has a good sound consider this one. I however, use it in my office and it suits my needs. I haven't experienced the static that other reviewers have mentioned. The only thing is the adaptor supplied for the Ipod Nano didn't work with my Nano 2nd generation. But, not to worry. I left my nano in it's "ToughSkin" slip case and put the Ipod mini adaptor behind it and it seems very secure and works great!Customer Review: Unimpressed

I bought this speaker system to accessorize my new iPod Classic, and I returned it a day or two later. Even though I got it at nearly half the current listed price, I was very disappointed with the weak and tinny sound quality. I already own a less expensive Dynex "wedge" speaker system, which I had bought for my old Shuffle - I thought it first that it was incompatible with the Classic, but when I realized I could use it, I found I got speaker sound from it that was at least as good as the CTA unit. I also recently purchased a "iPod boom box" for the bargain price of $20 which has speakers with much better bass response - and it has an AM/FM radio to boot. So there are products on the market that are at least as good or better, and much cheaper, than this one.Customer Review: Be Wareabout the static

I bought this speaker mainly becasue of the price and the ratings given by other people on AMazon.
I must say I am very disappointed in this product. First of all, it makes a static sound just before the song starts. Almost always on the first song. Afterwards, the static may come back randomly. Second, The speakers can not re-produce all the notes of the music. May be that is expected for this price.
I will give it another 1-2 day and if the static keeps coming, I will return this unit. I think this is probably made by some chineese companies who stole the product design from the west and trying to make a quick buck by dumping it at such a low price. It is working as this is top 100 product at Amazon.
