The only reason that it didn't get 5 stars is because I haen't had it long enough to determine if it will last a long time. So far it works fine, just like the original cannon battery. It charges good, I didn't time it to see how long but plugged it in, and let it run its course. I bought another kind of replacement as well and cannot tell the difference between it, this one, and the original. So it gets two thumbs up! There are some other batteries on Amazon for way cheaper, like less than 2 bucks, but the shipping on those is way more expensive than this one, and they all work the same to me. Love this little guy! (I actually bought two so now I have three batteries and almost never seems like I am charging anything! Great aftermarket battery. Longer run times (900mAhr v. 760mAhr) than OEM battery at about a sixth the price. Seems to work just fine with both the Camera and the OEM Canon Charger. Why wouldn't it? Don't know.
Canon is emphatic about not using anything but Genuine Canon Accessories because they may harm your camera or charger. Why would it not work and why would it harm the camera? I Don't know. I think it just hurts their sales and profits.
There are lots of other aftermarket NB-4L's out there, all deliverable for but a little more than $10. So why would anyone buy a Genuine Canon Battery and how can Canon in good conscience sell their's for 6 times the price? (or about 4 times on Amazon). That is the real question.

I used two of these batteries to supplement my original Canon battery on a two week camping trip. I charged them properly before using them and they are indistinguishable, if not better, than the original Canon battery.
Reading some of the reviews it seems that about 1/4 of the users are pretty unhappy with this product. Assuming that they do everything right it may be that the production standards are not all that high, and one in four batteries is defective. Given the low price I think even then it's still a good deal: buy three of them, check them out, send them back if they don't work. At the time I bought my batteries that would have still saved me about twenty bucks, including the postage to ship the bad ones back.

I bought this generic battery as my second battery and I love it. I did not want to buy the original Canon battery because it costs a lot more and I intended to use this second one just in case my Canon runs out of juice. Before buying it, I read a lot of bad reviews about this product but decided to give it a shot anyway since it is pretty much inexpensive and would not make me bankrupt if it did not work well. FOR MY HAPPY SURPRISE IT WORKS GREAT! BELIEVE ME! I MYSELF AM NOT ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL CANON BATTERY AND THIS GENERIC! IT NOT ONLY CHARGES FAST BUT ALSO LASTS A LOT. This CTA replacement Battery for the Cannon compact cameras appears to be just as good as the Cannon Battery & at far less the cost. The charge last just as long as the Cannon Battery & the Physical outside looks just as good. My only problem with this Battery is the high shipping cost which appears to make up for the low published cost of the item. This is the case for a lot of items sold through the internet.

After using for sometime I will say that this battery isn't as good as ariginal & doesn't hold charge near as long.
Break the bank & buy a Canon Battery.
