I went to the Crucial web site and ran their great program, which analyzed my system and automatically recommended a bunch of different RAM upgrades and sidegrades. My intent was to go from 4GB to 8GB, but I was concerned about compatibility with my MB, which is several years old and runs 1333 MHz memory with several compatibility caveats. (The MB manufacturer does not guarantee just any old memory will work - you are only supposed to choose from their list of brands and model numbers.)
The Crucial web app determined that these would work and offered to let my buy them there, but I'm an Amazon Prime member and saved a little in tax and shipping by getting them from Amazon.
I simply replaced my old 4 x 1GM DIMMs with these 4 x 2GB DIMMs and it just worked - no problems.
