Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Crucial 8Gb Lexar Media Professional Udma 300X Compactflash Cf8Gb-300-380Customer Review: Just What I Needed Summary: 5 Stars
Lexar Professional UDMA - Flash memory card - 8 GB - 300x - CompactFlash
I use a a Canon 5D and love Lexar cards. From the first digital camera I had many years ago, I always got better response from the Lexar one as compared with other brands. First it was 4X, then, 8X then 16X, then 40X, then 80X, then 133X, now 300X. My cameras went from 3.3 MP then several 8 MP, now 12.8 MP so there was a need for faster and larger cards. Well Lexar has kept up. I now have 5 of the 8GB 300X. I still use the 8 GB 133X as well as some 40 and 80X cards. The difference I notice is down loading my images to my computer, the 300X is way faster with a proper card reader. Even with the express card reader on my laptop in the field the 300X card downloads the 8 GB faster. Also when shooting a burst of pictures, whether its getting the right image at sporting events or a bird in flight, with either my Canon 20D or now the Canon 5D, I never have to wait for the files to write to the cards.
I like the peace of mind that comes from the quality of Lexar products. I spend a lot of time, effort, and money getting the images and the thought of loosing them due to card problems is unimaginable. I also no doubt will be getting the Canon 1DS Mark IIII in the near future, and like the idea than the cards I am now using will be fast enough to keep up with the 21 MP camera. So no regrets.
Well off to Alaska with my Lexar cards,

Customer Review: 8GB Lexar UDMA 300X CF Card Review Summary: 5 Stars
Not much to say other than FAST!!!! 300X equates to 45 megabytes per second transfer speed! That's FAST!!!!
This card is being used in my Sony A-700 camera body. Taking pictures on full auto mode does not overrun the card. I could fill the entire card with one shutter button press if I wanted to.
The card will hold 408 pictures in full, uncompressed RAW mode (with a Sony A-700 12.24 megapixel camera). That's equal to over 11 rolls of 36 exposure 35mm film! In JPEG or other compressed modes, this card holds THOUSANDS of images!
A few things to watch out for (these are generic warnings - not specific to the Lexar UDMA card):
* Be sure your CAMERA can SUPPORT an 8GB card before you buy.
* Be sure your CAMERA can SUPPORT an UDMA card before you buy.
* Be sure your COMPUTER card reader is USB 2.0 or FireWire, full speed and can support UDMA.
That's all. You need a wicked fast memory card for your camera or other data storage use? ... The 8GB Lexar UDMA 300X CF Card will make you very happy!
Customer Review: Not pleased Summary: 1 Stars
I ordered this 8 gig card with new horizons in mind. I shoot with a professional Canon 10D EOS. My camera, after 3.4 gigs was used up on the Lexar card, could no longer write to the card fast enough and all images become corrupt thereafter. Since I had only read positive reviews for the card, I was way to sure of this card and used it during a wedding shoot. I'm thankful I had plenty of 1 and 2 gig cards as back up. Further investigation opened up the notion that this card cannot be maximized by any camera other then the higher end SLR professional cameras that are new to the market - so if you don't own a high end SLR and just have a normal SLR professional like myself, this card isn't going to work for you. Atleast not past 3.4 gigs.
Customer Review: Speed That Makes A Difference Summary: 5 Stars
I shoot a Canon 5D and work with dancers in performance. The shooting is quick, often strings of many frames with the camera running as fast as it will cycle. When I changed from 133x cards to 300x cards, I noticed a significant improvement in the speed with which the camera's buffer clears, allowing longer strings and better readiness for more shooting. This is only going to be more important with newer cameras having higher resolution and faster cyclic rates. This Lexar and the Sandisk Extreme Ducati series claim the 45MB/sec performance level. I use both with equal satisfaction. I have recently switched from 4GB to 8GB cards to reduce the number of reloads necessary during a job.
Customer Review: Always Go For the Gold! Summary: 5 Stars
Fastest writing time I could find. If it's taking any time to write, I haven't noticed. I haven't put it to the full test yet - 8fps - but am confident it will keep pace. It produces spectacular color clarity on mid-quality, small-sized .jpeg setting.
I was annoyed to need to buy a new card format when I upgraded Nikons, but got over it immediately. I can't imagine needing a second card because of the mind-boggling capacity of this one, but I will certainly go with a second one of these should it need a back-up.
Lexar Professional Series have always given me flawless results. And the included recovery software has come in handy a few times too...
