Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Corsair Flash Voyager 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB2.0-8GBCustomer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 StarsThis is the second voyager I've purchased. I love these things, they're perfect for hanging on your keychain for those random times you need a USB thumbdrive on the go. The rubber housing makes them durable enough for keychain use, such as throwing them around in your pockets, jackets, etc...
Customer Review: Slow, but good drive. High capacity and reliablity. Summary: 4 StarsI've always been impressed with Corsair's memory. Now they're making USB flash drives. You'd expect quality and speed from Corsair. And they almost deliver here as well as they do in system memory.
This drive is very large for it's price at the time of this writing. I've been using it for nine months and it's also been completely reliable. The only thing that is disappointing is that it's pretty slow -- something that you never associate with the Corsair brand. However, as Corsair is new to the flash drive market, I suspect they start making faster drives.
This is a really nice looking USB drive. But I look for good looks in dates, not USB drives. However, making this drive look nice, affects its size. A drive has three dimensions: length, width, and thickness (height). Although this drive is significantly longer than most, that's only a minor inconvenience when putting it in your pocket, a good trade-off for the capacity. However, the width and thickness can be a big problem. USB ports are usually placed close side-by-side or on top of each other. In either case, you can't fit this USB drive and any other USB device in adjacent USB ports. Unfortunate, especially since it seems that the thickness is just due to the rubber coating. Although that coating feels nice, it's not worth losing the ability to plug the drive into a port that's next to some other USB device.
This drive is great when you have to move large amounts of data. But I'd recommend a faster and smaller (in both capacity and physical form) drive for everyday transfers. As for Corsair, I'd recommend
1. Placing more effort into increasing the speed of the drives.
2. Making the drive no wider or thicker than a USB port. Length is not a problem.
3. Keep the hole that lets you put the drive on a chain, but also add a holder for the cap at that end because caps are easy to lose.
Customer Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 StarsI have the 16GB and I love it. I had a SanDisk Cruzer and it would freeze the computers at my college, and became very annoying. My dad got this for me April 2009, and I've continually used it since. I have no problem with any computers recognizing it. My MacBook has no problems reading it, or the college's computers, which all run Windows XP. My netbook has Windows 7, and it has no problem with it either.
The only con I can think of is the rubber casing. It is somewhat bulky, which makes it the only thing you can plug into a USB port if the ports are close together.
I would highly recommend this flash drive to anyone.
Customer Review: Corsair backs up their 10 year warrenty! Summary: 5 StarsI just received my replacement 32 GB flash voyager.
It is not often that I have had such a pleasant experience - there was no hassle - no 3rd degree - I told them how my flash drive died and they said - send it back - I did and they sent me a new one to replace it - all within a couple weeks.
Corsair Rocks!
Customer Review: Pretty Decent but cover collects dust Summary: 4 StarsI bought this to store all the drivers for my laptop and two home PC's as well as all the programs that I have installed on the PC's to make formatting easier. The main reason I went with Corsair is because its one of the top memory companies up there with OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill, and Mushkin in performance speeds for memory modules. Kingston also makes pretty good flash drives but OCZ and Corsair are considered better brands for an overclocker so I went with a Corsair flash drive expecting it to be the fastest available.
Using the FAT32 file system the file transfer speeds of the flash drive are extremely slow (which is what it ships with), I suggest formatting it in NTFS for a little bit of faster performance. This Flash Drive doesnt transfer data as fast as my OCZ Rally2 4gb Flash Drive that I was using before I got this one but then agian its 16gb vs 4gb. The cover that the Corsair Flash drive came with is rubber which is a dust and lint magnet when stored in your pocket or kept on your desk for a long time, but other flash drives usually come with Plastic (Kingston) or Metal covers (OCZ). The Corsair Flash Drive did not come with a neck strap to carry it around your neck like most flash drives do which was kind of a disappointment but then agian it wasnt as expensive as most other 16gb flash drives.
