Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Corsair 8GB Flash Voyager USB 2.0 Flash Drive CMFUSB2.0-8GBCustomer Review: Fast, Mac-Compatible 8GB Thumbdrive Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this drive for about a month now, and it works great! It's fast, great capacity, and works seamlessly on my Mac. Unfortunately, the first one I received was dead, but with Amazon's no-questions-asked return policy, they overnighted me a new one, and I returned the broken one, with minimal effort. Overall I am very pleased with the drive.
EDIT: I have been using this for over 3 months now, and have filled it to capacity many times (transferring DVD movies, etc.) and it still works GREAT!
Customer Review: Works great, but needs a better design Summary: 4 Stars
This product works great. It does what it is supposed to do. However, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because its design makes it less convenient with plugging it in next to other USB devices. It comes with an extension USB cord to solve the problem, but it's just less convenient to have to use this cord every time. Also, the cap falls off very easily. I wanted to give it only 3 stars because of its design, but the most important thing is its functionality. Bottom line: it works. It just has design flaws.
Customer Review: Not as good as it seems Summary: 2 Stars
I have to agree with many of the reviews here. After having tried many different USB flash memories, I have to say this one comes short of what I expected. I can name a few disappointing things:
- bulky design
- may be water resistant but it easily bent from the adapter and died, so it's not so rugged after all
- compared to other flash memories it has SLOW performance, specially when transfering many small files. the slowest I've ever tried.
- cap comes off easily
Customer Review: Great drive at just $18 after $15 rebate Summary: 5 Stars
There must be different packages with this drive as mine came only with USB extension and carry strap but without CD or encryption software. However, it's about 2.5 times faster write speed than an 8GB Adata drive I have; it took 29 minutes to write 7GB with this Corsair drive compared to 73 minutes for the Adata to write those same files. I guess I'll need to check Corsair website for Win98 drivers, but I'm very pleased with this drive running Win2k for which drivers aren't needed.
Customer Review: Very Nice! Faster than I thought it would be. Summary: 5 Stars
This USB thumb drive has a really nice feel to it. It works in Windows Vista perfectly, the drivers load automatically.
I measured the following performance:
Write single 717MB video file - 120 seconds - 5.975MB/s
Read single 717MB video file - 30 seconds - 23.9MB/s
Write 455 files (727MB total) JPG files - 150 seconds - 4.85MB/s
Read 455 files (727MB total) JPG files - 37 seconds - 19.65MB/s
I think this is very nice for the money.
