Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB ( 200-615 )Customer Review: poor design sluggish yoke Summary: 1 Stars
Google this product and read reviews from all the pilot stores, youll see this product has a poor rep.notice all negative comments are from actual pilots like myself,if you play games with this yoke you may feel its acceptible and dont really know how it supposed to function. I've owned my CH yoke for a few years and since day one its drove me crazy how poorly the yoke responds due to a flawed design. The yokes shaft is made of plastic and binds and hangs up during manuevers. nothing like desending and having hit a rough spot on the yoke and the plane jumps out of control. I had planned on buying teflon strips to squeeze between the yoke and its mount but couldnt stomach the cost of the strips. While shopping for a throttle quadrant I bought the saitek yoke and throttle set for the same price as my CH !!!!! after reading reviews on the saitek with its properly designed yoke, stainless steel, ball bearing shaft i went for it. Saitek yoke is a 1000 times better than this CH garbage !!!
Customer Review: Into the air more than ever. Summary: 5 Stars
OK, I'm an old private pilot who has also flown Microsoft Flight Simulator before Microsoft owned the product but with this yoke, you really really add to the realism far beyond my expectations. The size of the yoke is close to those of most 2-6 passenger planes I have flown and so the feel is right at home in your hands. What's really amazing is that with it attached to the lastest version of Simulator, most of the controls functioned right out of the box with no programing. I was constantly surprised at how easy and how fully integrated the yoke and related buttons, etc. were with the software - functionally and visually - yes visually. You pull back on the yoke and a quick view inside the cockpit shows the simulated yoke moving almost in unison - almost scarry!
Although twice the price of the Microsoft software it's well worth the price and if you are a real pilot or want to be pilot, the FAA lets you log some real hours of practice with this stuff.
Customer Review: Alright Starter Yoke Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased a CH Yoke as my first flight yoke; I've had many joysticks and throttles before. I was expecting this to be great, I've heard many good things about this products and it is one in a few that are in the price range.
Pros: It's USB and installs easily. It works with almost all Flight Sims (including Microsoft's FSX and X-Plane)
Cons: It seems to be cheaply made, thin plastics. It doesn't mount well to most desks and tables that I have tried it on.
The BIG disadvantage that I cannot stand is in the pitch axis. It's impossible to return it to neutral! This is due to the springs not always placing the yoke back to it centered point.
I do NOT recommend this yoke to any REAL pilots; it will frustrate you to no end. It is however acceptable for simple gamers and children for a first Flight Yoke.
I'm purchasing Saitek's Throttle Quadrants and looking forward to buying Saitek's Flight yoke as well.
Customer Review: Great but... Summary: 4 Stars
I really like this product. As a licensed pilot, this item gives a more realistic civilian PC flying experience then any joystick can. And for the price, it can't be beat. Sure, there are other yokes costing A LOT more, but unless you want to build a PC simulator you can log real time in, why bother?
My reason for 4 instead of 5 stars? The clamps are awful. They are designed only to fit really thick, flat desks. If your computer desk has a curved front, it's really difficult to get this to stay put.
The feel of the yoke is a little too plasticky. I would like to see slightly smaller yoke with a closer material feel to a real yoke.
This item is a MUST have for anyone who takes their civilian flight simulators ( Micrsoft flight sim, X-plane,Fly!) seriously. It's so much more enjoyable and realistic then using a joystick. Unless you have Airbus simulator add-ons!
Customer Review: Average Yoke for a Low Price Summary: 3 Stars
I am giving this product an average review - not because it doesn't work as advertised, but because it is true that the stability of the product degrades over time and that it will need to be replaced every 2 years or so, and that's with fairly infrequent use. The calibration of my yoke after 2 years of owning it is completely out of whack. I've tried recalibrating within Flight Simulator and it's no good, the yoke doesn't have a steady "idle" position and jumps all over the place depending on how far the center column snaps forwards or backwards after applying pressure. I believe anyone considering this product should consider buying something more pricey because they are going to get more mileage out of it. The flaw in this peripheral is not in its construction so much as its design. Out of the box the product is great, it's not until later that you'll start experiencing problems.
