Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB ( 200-615 )Customer Review: Another Great CH Products Product Summary: 4 Stars
After buying the CH Products Rudder Pedals from Amazon which I was intsantly happy with, I felt that I had to get this yoke for my Flight Simulator 2004. I did and overall, I am satisfied.
I would love to have given this product 5 stars but the plastic makes the product look pretty cheap and you don't get the feel that thing is actually worth it price but as stated before, the next good flight sim yoke is at least 200 dollars more in cost. Another issue is the clamps that do not fit your standard desk but inserting a small book between the desk and yoke helps to keep it steady. Also, The trim wheel is a little work to turn but it really is no big deal for me and I still love to use it rather than map trim to another button.
Let me be clear about one thing...this yoke feels good and is very responsive when controlling the planes in FS2004. Overall, I am happy with this yoke and it has taken my FS2004 experience to new heights. Although it is made of cheap looking plastic, I get the feeling that it is built to last.
Customer Review: Hey, Once again same review ( I bought 3 elements ) GREAT ! Summary: 5 Stars
Hi I have been flight siming for quite sometime and recently made the Jump to real world piloting both fixed wing and rotary aircraft. The fellas I fly fixed wing with and my instructor for rotary aircraft all agree that my use of flight programs with this equipment has translated into a more fluid, focused training experience. The only thing one does not quite experience is the actual mechanical tactile elements and forces of "G" associated with real world flying. Otherwise When in X-Plane, FX or 2004 Microsoft programs you are real as you program it. This is also true of older Ubisoft titles which fly well and much more acurately than with Logitech controller Sticks. Logitech has just come out with controllers like Ch-Products and Saitek. The Jury is not in on these yet. Try landing on the pitching deck of a carrier in Lomac IL2 or Pacific fighters. You`ll get a real thrill/chill and a sense of accomplishment. Especially when battle dam-aged I love CH-Products READ what you can do W/CMS Software. We have Joy Lt Scott St. John
Customer Review: Nice, but overpriced. Summary: 3 Stars
This yoke works great with Microsoft Flight Simulator and other flight simulators. Installation is painlessjust plug in the USB connector and install the driver. The buttons and switches on the yoke are automatically mapped to various functions in MS flight simulator (no configuration necessary), such as changing the view. Without pressing a key, you can change the view from inside the aircraft cabin to a 3D chase view, or looking up at you aircraft from the tower, which a flick of your thumb. This yoke even has a small plastic wheel that even acts like a trim wheel. However, it feels like what it is-- a... plastic yoke. The thickness of my desk wasnt thick enough, so I had to use a book or two to get the clamps to firmly grip my desk and even then it wasnt totally stable. Also, unlike a real airplane yoke, you can pull back (or push forward) and it wont totally return to neutral. This may be a problem with the software, but I was disappointed. I had high expectations because of the high price that simply werent met.
Customer Review: Makes life easier.... Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this as a treat to myself (along with the CH Pro Pedals) after upgrading to FSX, hoping to get the most out of the sim.
Looks good and feels fairly solid (although not as well built as the Pedals) straight out of the box.
Windows XP instantly recognises the Yoke and installs the drivers automatically, and FSX also adds them straight in without any playing around with Control Options.
Makes flying more realistic than the joystick or mouse and key combo (I actually have a real Pilot Licence so realism is paramount to me) although I had a quick go on the helicopter and it would seem some tweaking is needed to control this properly.
Only other negative is that the clips that are supplied to attach the control to your desk assumes that you have a thick surface to attach it to. My desk is less than an inch thick and the attachment supplied won't go small enough to grip to it. No major issue as I just added a strip of wood to make it thicker, but worth bearing in mind.......
Customer Review: Love it Summary: 4 Stars
I have owned every version of MS Flight sim to come out, but always been disappointed with the action when using the keyboard and quickly grew tired of it. However, I recently started real flight training and my instructor told me to get the CH yoke. I did and it is unbelievably realistic when compared with the real thing. A great training aid. Although you don't get credit for sim hours toward your license, if you work the same maneuvers and principles on the sim that you do in your lessons, it will save you hours in the air and with the instructor. He has already told me he can really tell the difference between me and his other students. Besides, it's just fun! Makes MS Flight sim what it should be. I didn't get the rudder pedals right away, but realized I can't do forward slips or crosswind landings very well without them. Also, the autorudder feature is nice for beginners, but it builds a bad habit of steering while taxiing with the yoke, so I got the rudder pedals too. Love it!
