Customer Review: Sensitive but coumbersome
Summary: 3 Stars

So I've been playing Ace High for 5 yrs. I've gone through numerous sticks as I improved my gaming. My last stick was the X52 Saitek - which was ok - lots of bells and whistles but you had to recalibrate it all the time. Almost every day, while in play -I'd have to recalibrate in flight because it would start drifting - very annoying.
I read a lot before dropping the big buck on the CH Fighterstick. I've had it for 2 weeks - about 6 hrs of gaming. Took me over about 45 min to dial in the programming of the buttons.

Pros -
It is very smooth.
Totally programmable.
Feels solid.

Cons -
no twisting so no rudder input, which means you have to buy foot peddles or use the keyboard - that bites for take-offs and carrier landings.
The left/right dials for trim are nice maybe in Flight Sim, but gaming it's useless.
I'm using the dial wheel on the left for throttle - marginal. Makes you need to buy the throttle.
When you use the alternate fire button for secondary weapons, the red on upper left you always hit the 4-way hat beneath it so your view or however you program it goes off. That's really annoying.
It's big - I wear a XL glove and I have a hard time wrapping my hand around comfortably.

Bottom line - you really need to buy the 3 pieces - stick, throttle and foot peddles - but that's a serious chunk of money for GAMING! When my X52 died, I should have just bought another one...

Customer Review: Great Joystick!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This the Best joystick I've ever owned.I've had a lot of different ones over the years. The best one I had befor this was the Thrustmaster ones that I still do use.The main difference between the Thrustmaster ones is that they have a very very hard spring ,that even tho is very strongly build can make anyones hands and arm get very tired and sore after any long use plus you need to strap down the base otherwize the spring tenson is so strong that to pull the stick in any direction just lifts the whole base and unit right off the desk. The CH Products Fighterstick is a pleasure to use. It's very well built, has tons of fully programable buttons and the Biggest suprize that I got once I placed the unit on my desk was that the spring tenson was so smooth and light that I can quickly throw the stick in any direction with no pull of the base at all!!!! Wow!! This is Great!!!You would have to realy push the stick to the very extream limits of it's movement to cause the base to lift.If you do that sort of thing just use a little double sided tape to place a small square of Velcro to both the base and desk to hold back even this extream movement. It's a big joystick, I have large hands and it's still seems a bit big but I feel totally comfortable useing it for long perionds of time with no hand or arm soreness.Overall a high quility and very enjoyable joystick to use.

Customer Review: King kong controller
Summary: 3 Stars

This controller has some really good...assignable options like ...multiple hat switches and buttons and a mode selector...
But you can reach up to the controls only if ur body size was 6.5 feet minimum and u have hands to match...These are huuuuge.....its not possible to keep ur thumb in the angle for the lower hat switch and then just flick up to the pov hat switch...
you will literally have to raise ur elbow and whole arm to reach it.
and I am not a small person Im 6 foot.
The most disappointing aspect was the trim control wheels.
They are infact not controllers that you can just assign trim axises to...
but a kind of caliberation mechanism for the stick itself...
so when u use the elevator trim axis it modifies your joystick axis ever so slightly to have a upward or downward tendency....this really sucks in game as its very non intuitive and I found them very very difficult to control...kind of sad assuming I bought these transported all the way to India only because of the trim wheels :(.
But having said that I must also say the joystick axis are very sensitive and nice....and having a seperate pivot for pitch and roll allows for very precise input..
and they're built like beasts as well...very very tough...
wish they would make one in a slightly smaller size as well...:(

Customer Review: Best joystick ever
Summary: 5 Stars

Probably the best joystick ever made. It cannot be compared to other joysticks that wear out or snap in half in 3 weeks. Don't bother with Logitech or Microsoft. Gravis used to be good. If you can get a Blackhawk digital, I recommend it. Nothing beats the Fighterstick though.

It has more buttons than you can even think to use. It has a heavy base so you can set it on your desk and have one hand free, instead of cheaper joysticks where you have to actively hold down the base to keep the thing from doing a flip.

I cannot stress how well it's built. This joystick will last through a nuclear explosion. If you want to get a 10 year old a joystick for a game he won't like in 2 months anyway, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a performance piece of equipment that will probably outlast you, get the CH Fighterstick.

I do have a few grips:
1. It's BIG. It would stand to be a bit smaller. I find myself having to stretch out my thumb or finger sometimes. It's manageable though. I would say I have medium sized hands.
2. There is barely any spring in the base. It's very easy to turn, almost too easy. Not sure if there's a force feedback option with more resistance, but I personally like a joystick that takes a bit more effort to turn.

That's it! Hands down the best joystick made.

Customer Review: Best Joy Stick on the market
Summary: 5 Stars

I just ordered a new one of these today, I've been waiting for several years to get a new one - trying to convince my wife I needed it.

This is the best joystick i've ever had, my old one which I bought in the mid-90s finally died on me a couple of years ago. It wasn't the hours and hours of gaming which killed it, it was the trip from New Zealand to the US, where the movers didn't have it sitting upright, but rather, jammed down on the one of the axis for 2 months in transit. Argh! It stopped centering and made flying impossible.

Still, for about 13 years this joystick took every bit of punishment i gave it. I used it for racing games, motorcycle games and of course numerous flight simulators, such as Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. The beast never missed a beat, every button still clicks like it's brand new.

Thus when it came to finally retire the old one I had no hesitation in getting the latest USB based version...I can't recommend it enough.
