Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 35508 iPod-Compatible 3.5 mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable (4 Feet)Customer Review: Does not work for iPod Touch in your car!!! Summary: 1 Stars
The connector is supposed to connect from the iPod to a 1/8" stereo input (auxilary input) - so that it can play through the stereo. It doesn't work - the only sound I got from my iPod was through the internal speaker, not the stereo. I verified by then using an 1/8" to 1/8" cable, and got the results I was looking for. Proving it wasn't user error. It just didn't work.
The cable does not work as described, and was a relatively expensive cable to find out it didn't work as it should.
Customer Review: A handy cord to have Summary: 4 Stars
This is much better than using the headphone jack on your iPod to connect to devices. The line-level out produces better sound and you can also adjust the volume level with just the thing you plug it into. Very nice if you want to just plug your iPod into a friends computer and they don't have iTunes installed. In fact, as long as they have a sound input, they don't have to have anything installed at all. Also works much better connecting to cars with an AUX input than the headphone jack.
Customer Review: WARNING - Not compatible with Ipod Touch Summary: 1 Stars
Warning - this cable does not work with Ipod Touch. It looks like Apple changed the pin-out sequence of their dock connector for the latest generation of i-touch (this I figured out after much searching of the internet). OK, so this may be an issue created by Apple, but nowhere is the incompatibility acknowledged on the Amazon site or even on the product packaging.
Hope this helps someone else avoid the several hours of frustration that I went through figuring this out...
Customer Review: The near-perfect iPod connector for cars Summary: 4 Stars
I have a Saab 9.3 that has a 1/8-inch (3.5mm) plug for iPods and other music sources. With this cable, I'm able to use the preamp-out connection from my iPod into my car stereo. The preamp connection gives noticeably superior quality sound when compared to the headphone-out connector.
I rated this 4-stars only because the cable is relatively thin-guage. Probably not audiophile quality. Nonetheless, the sound I get is more than adequate for my car listening experience.
Customer Review: perfect, cheap fix for great sound! Summary: 5 Stars
The stereo shop said it would cost $1800 to hook my ipod up to my Range Rover Sport. The dealer showed me the AUX input jack in the back of the center armrest behind the driver seat...plugged this in and it works great! Much clearer than the FM transmitter I've been using. The only downside is that it doesn't charge the IPOD. $5 vs. $1800....ha ha stereo shop! Buy this if you want a very simple way to hook up your ipod using your AUX button on stereo for crystal clear sound.
