I used to use a simple RCA cord to play music to my Wave music player by BOSE, which did work but the sound often felt muffled. I was thinking of the more pricey Ipod attachment which is priced at $99 butI got this cord and it does the job very well. A lot of reviews have complained about the length of the cord but it can either be left in the original factory fold or if you need to increase the length tie it up with the tie provided. The sound quality is an improvement and it helps if you have the songs in the highest bit rate possible. Set it up is simple. What I have noticed about this product that it somehow sucks more power out of the Ipod classic and this is because make sure that you pause the song or the podcast that you were playing not doing so will cause the Ipod to drain all your power.This product is an improvement in sound quality and is priced reasonably.Customer Review: Get better sound quality and use your vehicle's controls to adjust the volume

If you have an iPod and want to listen to it while you are driving, you owe it to yourself to get this cable! Prior to using this cable I have used the FM transmitter (fun if you like changing channels and enjoy dealing with bleed thru) as well as using the cable that inserts into the headphone jack of the iPod. While that cable is an improvement over the FM transmitter, it is a bit noisy and the volume controls must be properly adjusted in order to avoid introducing distortion (set the iPod volume at ~3/4 strength then adjust the volume on the car stereo). How does this dock connector cable compare to the headphone out cable? Smokes it!!! Zero noise and all your volume is controlled through your stereo system. Just plug it in and use your controls, including mute, as usual. BTW, you can use it on your home stereo system as well!Customer Review: Works great in my Jetta

This cable works really well. I had a few concerns prior to purchasing. I was worried that 1) it would not be the correct type of cable I needed to fit my VW Jetta, and 2) I thought 4 feet may be too long. I was wrong on both accounts. The cable fits my 4th generation IPod Nano to my Jetta perfectly. The volume works great and the sound is very clear. Also 4 feet is perfect - any shorter would have been too short to get the cord across the glove compartment and into my center console.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because, like others have mentioned, it would be nice if it also charged the IPod. It hasn't been a big problem though, because the IPod battery is pretty good.
I'd recommend this product to anyone who is tired of burning CDs with music from their IPod.

I have over 900 albums on my iPod and my car (a Scion) provides a proper iPod interface. Unfortunately, with the single-line-of-text display on the car stereo it is just about impossible to navigate my music effectively. I use this adapter to plug into my car's auxiliary input, so I can use the iPod's click wheel to navigate my music, while taking advantage of this adapter's proper line-out signal from the dock connector.
The result is far superior sound quality to a male-male cable from the iPod headphone jack to the car's aux input, and the convenience of the iPod's outstanding user interface. Drawback is I can't use my steering wheel controls for anything other than volume control. Got it here under the used-and-new link for a very reasonable price.

In the past I used an FM-transmitter to listen to my iPod in my car, and the sound quality often was quite poor. After purchasing a new car that has an auxiliary audio jack, I searched for a cable like this one with which to connect my iPod. This is the only cable I could find online that connected to the iPod dock port rather than through the headphone jack. So far I have been very pleased with this product. It connects perfectly to my iPod (just like the Apple-issued USB cord does) and the sound quality is -- to this layperson's ears -- excellent. It is easy to use, has the look of an Apple cord, and works very well. It is exactly what I had been looking for and I am very pleased with it, so I would highly recommend this product to others.
