Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Cables To Go 35508 iPod-Compatible 3.5 mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable (4 Feet)Customer Review: plastic doc connector otherwise okay though it does not work with iPad Summary: 2 Stars
There isn't a lot to get wrong or right about a device like this. It needs to work AND it should be reliable/continue working. In this case it works fine with my iPhone but un,Ike the same type of connector at mono price it does not work with a first gen 3G iPad.
So what to say? As long as you are not using an iPad in would say: It does what it should -- gets the line level (fixed volume) output from an ipod and lets you connect it or a stereo or powered speakers or a car stereo input. And, of course, this is a much better way to connect the ipod than the headphone output. The sound quality is more consistent etc.
However, the doc connector is plastic instead of metal. Even on cheaper cables, like those at mono price, the doc connector for the same kind of cable is metal. In terms of longetivity, I think I prefer metal instead of the Cables to Go plastic version.
It's too soon to say whether the plastic will become a problem. But it might. And since I paid up for this branded cable, I was hoping it would be more solid than the competition. It doesn't appear to be, so I have my fingers crossed.
Customer Review: My first bad review... Summary: 1 Stars
Amazon has been great to me for years!!! I love the accessiblity and I love amazon prime...I do not however love this product. I have a brand new ipod touch and a brand new car, this should have been a match made in heaven but it has been more like a match made in hades LOL I can laugh about it now because I only wasted $15.oo on this product so I'll chalk it up as a fairly inexpensive learning experience. I plugged the cord into my ipod and and then to the aux port(of course set my stero on media/aux) in my car and got nothing...well nothing but the sound of music coming from my Ipod speakers and not the car speakers. I then had a friend with 3.5mm male to male audio cable that she picked up at Radio Shack for about $6.00 dollars and it worked great in my car. The sound is amazing! I really want my money back on principle and frustration alone but I have since gone to Radio shack and picked up the same cable my friend has(the 3.5mm male to male)and it works fine. Hope this helps someone...I know I read reviews if they are available before I buy anything...but must have missed a few on this one!!
Customer Review: The only way to go! Summary: 5 Stars
If you have an "aux in" in you car or home stereo or computer speakers this is the best way to go when listening to your ipod. I used to have a 3.5mm to RCA stereo jack connector. That sounded horrible because it used the ipod's internal amp which is good for nothing other than headphones. I would also have to adjust the volume on the ipod and the stereo. This little cable connects from your ipod's pin connector line out to a 3.5mm "male" jack. This way the ipod's internal amp is bypassed and nothing but the core information is sent to be amplified. Other than that, not much more to say. I have two of these cables. One is permanently connected to my JBL Duets (great "cheap" speakers by the way) in the bathroom (had to get a 3.5 mm "female" to "female" connector though) and the other comes with me for my car (a Dodge Charger which has an "aux" input in the stereo) at work. I haven't had any problems with either of my cables since I bought the first one about six months ago. Note that I'm using the cable with two ipod nano's. One is a first generation and the other a fourth generation.
Customer Review: Perfect connection to an aux in Summary: 5 Stars
I don't know why products like this are so hard to find. I searched for quite a while for a simple way to connect my iPod to my car stereo's aux in via the dock connector/line out, and finally settled on this one. It does the trick, and unlike others I've owned, it has a dock connector that's just as slim as the original Apple USB dock connector. That means it's much easier to connect to your iPod when it's in a case. For that reason, I prefer it to the retractable Zip Linq cable I had, which had a thick dock connector and which also happened to break on me after a few months' use.
I can't claim to be an audiophile, but the sound quality is flawless to my ears, and *much* better than I've ever gotten out of a cassette adapter or FM transmitter. I've had the cable for about 3 months, and I'm perfectly satisfied. About the only recommendation I'd make to the manufacturer is to offer the cable in a shorter length.
Customer Review: Great connector for new cars with AUX capabilities! Summary: 4 Stars
Just got a new Acura TSX that has the little outlet for an AUX input cable, otherwise known as the "headphone connector thingy". I was going to get the doule headphones connector to plug into the car and connect to the headphones jack on my pink nano (the newest one, 2G maybe?). However, I came across this, thankfully, and decided to try it out. Works great! Agreed that the color really would be better in black or dark grey at least (why it's 4 instead of 5 stars), but white isn't terrible. Cord is good in length - not too short or too long. Seems very durable. True, that it doesn't charge, but not a biggie. This price is really, really good! Other cables not even as nice as this at Best Buy and such are double the price. Keep in mind I didn't try the double headphone jack cord, but I doubt it'll keep me up at night because the sound is just fine with this thing. Definately recommend!
