Customer Review: BEWARE DO NOT BUY FROM FACTORY DEPOT!!!!
Summary: 1 Stars

I recently purchased a toner cartridge from the Factory Depot. I hear every few reviews here for Factory Depot about people not knowing where their item went. It turns out that Factory Depot opted for NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED as they leave the package in front of your house. I ordered the Samsung MLT-D105L - Toner cartridge - 1 x black - 2500 pages. Factory Depot in fact did not want to spend an extra $4 dollars just so that the package will arrive safely to you. My product got stolen as my neighbors saw an unrecognizable person go through my mail and running away with the package. Factory Depot does not want to refund me the money or send me another one because of the fact that they did not want to pay. Sadly Amazon or my credit card company will have to cover the burden and I will have to waste my time trying to get my money back. For everyone out there reading reviews and sharing knowledge about sellers, DO NOT BUY FROM FACTORY DEPOT!!!

Customer Review: Use the tape procedure to extend life
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered a new toner cartridge to replace the 'starter' cartridge that came with the printer - when the toner light started blinking. A couple of weeks after the new cartridge arrived, the toner light went 'solid' and would not print. So, I used the 'tape over the port' trick to fool it into continuing to print. That worked and the starter cartridge is still printing fine - no streaking or significant fading yet. I still have it set on draft print mode for routine printing. Oh, I forgot to mention that I applied the tape in March of this year!! I'm writing this in early October. I don't print 'tons' but I'm sure I've printed another 1000 pages or so since the cartridge was showing empty. This is my 3rd similar Brother printer, (wired, then ethernet, then wireless) and all have worked fine as have the replacement toner cartridges.

Customer Review: Should print approximately 2,600 pages... does it?
Summary: 3 Stars

I have just ordered the Brother MFC 7840 printer and have been reading about the toner refills. The manual says the hi yield TN-360 (OEM) will print approximately 2,600 pages! It appears the starter toner that comes with the new printer will print about 700 pages. The low yield prints about 1500 pages.

This product is not OEM... but appears people are satisfied... are you sure you are getting the recommended pages? I want to know so that I might try this product out to save money. The best price I've seen so far for the Hi Yield OEM toner to fit this printer costs about $55.

Users please post how many pages you are getting from this replacement toner! It will help others, thank you. I plan to update my review and give more stars if the toner gets over 2500 pages at least.

Customer Review: watch out for false message about ink too low.
Summary: 4 Stars

Brother fax and printer are good machines. My first experience with my new Brothers printer was that the original starter ink cartridge stopped printing too soon and the printer had a message that the ink was too low. The problem I discovered was in the program of the printer to stop printing way before the ink was gone. In reading other reviews about this problem, the solution was to put a piece of adhesive tape over one or the other optical eyes on either end of the ink cartridge to stop the false message that the ink was too low to continue printing. There are many reviews about this problem. Taping the optical eyes works and the ink cartridge continues to print black ink without stopping. The ink is sharply black and prints now without any messages that say ink too low.

Customer Review: Hi-yield Toner cartridge
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using product for a few weeks now as I write this. It has performed flawlessly.

Here is a tip if your current printer/cartridge is reporting out of toner condition. Remove cartridge. On right side look for a small window (may be circular). Cover window with a little masking tape. Re-install cartridge. Toner error will disappear. Now you can use your old cartridge awhile longer while waiting for your new one to arrive.

Edit: 5 mos. Later: Still working perfectly except when I select "Toner Saver" mode. Then I'll see a little excess toner appearing like dust in a small area or two on the printed page. Of course I only use that mode when I'm printing something that I know I'm going to toss out after I read it.

I still recommend it.
