I have used after market cartridges at half the price, I have refiled toner in cartridges and tried to make them work, but on both counts have been disappointed, the quality of the print was bad after that. I am not sure if Brother is different but Original cartridges seem to work the best and the print quality is as original.
I will have to stick to original, despite the slightly higher cost.

I'm glad I got the bigger cartidge. Makes economical sense. Works great! Arrived quick and came in great condition. Brother even includes a return mailing label and the packaging can be reused from the new cartridge to send to the company your old cartridge for recycling purposes. So great! With everything going up in prices you need to shop around! I bought this toner cheaper here than anything other place I could find. This is not a "knock-off" brand but the real thing, it is not a "second" but the same item you find in your local "office" supply stores. I print a lot from home and the Brother TN580 High Yield Toner has the cheapest operating cost around.Customer Review: High Yield better than normal yield toner

I tried the normal yield, and it's a pain to change toner all the time. The high yield packaging seems to me the way to go, minimizing the down time. Official Brother toner gives me no problem. We tried reloading these cartridges, and started having problems with several printers. It wasn't worth the discount in printer cost for the time to deal with the problems.Customer Review: Brother Toner -- boring, but good!

This toner works great with the Brother All-In-One I have. The reason I wrote this is to warn everyone to NOT use off brand toner. I have had a HUGE mess due to using a fairly well known replacement toner. When I changed back to Brother, after time for the old toner to get out of the system, everything got OK. So, yes, the do have us married to their toner!
