While I didn't buy the Brother Fax-575 from Amazon, I did use the reviews in deciding if I should purchase this fax. While I don't consider myself a tech geek, I do consider myself a due diligence shopper. I read reviews about the quality of the faxes both receiving and sending and was concerend. But at the price, I decided to take a chance. If you are expecting crystal clear, sharp faxes, this is not the machine for you. If you intend to use this fax for minimal use and don't want to run to the local Kinko's, this is perfect. I did test send and receive faxes and am more than satisfied. If you are planning on using it primarily to send faxes, this machine is an absolute, hands-down best buy. However, due to the limited capacity and high cost of replacing the cartridge, it is not cost-effective to receive faxes or make copies. The owner's manual is a thick a booklet, because the unit has a bewildering array of special features one would expect of a much more expensive device. Some previous reviewers complained of poor quality faxes and copies. That problem can be overcome, however, by setting the "Resolution" adjustment on maximum (i.e., photo-quality) definition.Customer Review: If you need a cheap fax machine........

I needed a cheap fax machine for the once every few months that i need to fax something and this one fits the bill. After rebate i believe i paid 19.99. Gets the job done and is simple to use. Might not be the best buy for heavy faxing, but for the occasion home user it does the trick. Wont be using it too much anymore tho, the old scanner/printer/COMPUTER fax machine i also own ran out of ink and it cost me the same money to purchase a NEW 5 in 1 scanner/printer/copier/computer fax/phoneline fax combo than to replace the ink!.....lol.....so go FAX urself......lolCustomer Review: Who manufactures this thing, Fisher Price?

I wouldn't buy this fax machine again if Brother paid ME. I have had mine for just over a year. The print quality is bad, but honestly I didn't expect it to be crystal clear considering the price. I did, however, expect it to work.
This machine randomly decides when it wants to accept faxes and when it doesn't. Not recommended for a home business. Clients are unimpressed when they have to try and fax me something 12 different times because the machine is feeling temperamental.
I bought a Canon fax machine instead and it works like a charm.

I ordered 2 of these fax machines because I know for a true fact that Brother fax machines are excellent products. I had a brother intellifax775 machine and I've had it for the past 10 years and the only reason I can no longer use it is because the hurricane damaged my home two months ago and destroyed a lot of my personal property. But I had no problems with the fax machine at all and I enjoyed the functions of it because it was so very easy and simple to operate. I would advise anyone to purchase "Brother products" because you wont be sorry you did.
