Customer Review: Toner works fine but Oh Brother this stuff is expensive!

When I bought the Brother HL2040 printer, I thought it would save money - not so. I have to replace the toner every few months and am now on my third drum unit (in less than 2 years). I would love to find a printer that is more cost efficient for printing black and white! I've tried refurbished toners but they have an even shorter duration.
Tip: When your printer signals it needs new toner, take the thing out, move it gently back and forth and then replace it. I've done this several times and it really extends the life of these things. It's like when your car flashes the 'gas empty' light but actually has four more gallons in it!

Okay, maybe there are cheaper alternatives, but I'm just leery of using anything but a factory replacement toner cartridge in my business printer. I don't do a lot of printing, but when I do it has to be fast and look good. For almost four years the process has been the same: When I run out of toner I take my spare cartridge off the shelf, order a replacement from Amazon (which arrives in just a few days), and life goes on. I don't measure output in quantity, but I know the quality will always be good. There may be cheaper alternatives, but I'm willing to pay what looks like a very small premium for peace of mind.Customer Review: Not What's Pictured

I can't comment on the quality of the ink cartridge that we received from Shoplet because it is our office policy not to insert Non-Genuine parts into our equipment. The photo and everything described in this listing indicates that they are offering a GENUINE Brother TN-350 cartridge. I should have known something was "off" from the extremely low price. I don't understand how Shoplet can use the Brother photo to represent their off-brand product! Must give Shoplet credit for quick response when we complained- they arranged a prepaid FEDEX pickup the very next day and refunded all our money including shipping.Customer Review: WHAT THE HECK? This makes no sense!

It seems that a lot of people here are reviewing the SELLER and not the product - and reviews of all the SELLERS are mish-mashed into this area. That makes NO SENSE!
The second thing that makes NO SENSE is writing a product reviews of a toner cartridge that you either need for your machine or you don't. (Unless, of course, it is a review of a REFURBISHED cartridge.)
I sure wish Amazon would somehow make this more SENSIBLE!
By the way, I bought a new cartridge from Amazon - it was great, a great value, and Amazon shipped it fast. Don't buy 'em from anyone else!

I always buy only the manufacturer's toner to make sure it's high quality, and I always keep a couple in stock. The last one streaked. I called Brother and went through the company's troubleshooting process by phone, and the service tech concluded that there was indeed a problem with the cartridge, but because I had purchased it 3 months ago, they would not replace it. I offered to send them the cartridge so they could make sure it was a brand new toner cartridge. The tech said no. If we all do business only with those companies that use fairness and common sense; we will create a better world.
