Was hopping it would work well, but....It'll give you five different readings 5 times you try it varying by as much as 1 degree. You can also get surprisingly different results between the ears. By as much as 2-3 degrees if your baby was lying on the side. However it's still useful to do a 5 second sanity check if your baby looks red.
If you do not want to stick things into your baby boys rectum, use under arm measurements. (Just mention how you measured it to your doctor & they'll know what it means)

I bought this when my son was born thinking it would be easier. It is not b/c it is inaccurate. They tell you to do the temp. 3 times for accuracy. Well, all three times the temperature had a different reading so how do I know which is the correct one? You have to put it in the ear the correct way (which is hard to do). Otherwise your temp. reading is not correct! So, I don't use it and it is a waste b/c it is pricey. I currently use a digital speed read rectal thermometer and I am much happier with it.Customer Review: Look under Kitchen and Housewares to find replacement lens!!

I have had my Braun for about 4 years. I really like it. It is so easy to use. I am having another baby in May and I couldn't do without it. I have had a hard time finding replacement lens filters for it. I did find them on Amazon. You have to look under the kitchen and houseware department in the personal care section under Braun. It would be easier if Amazon would list it with the baby stuff since that is where we find the thermoscan in the first place. I thought I would never find them.Customer Review: This did not fit

I received this for my baby shower and the first time my daughter had a fever I tried to use it and got a crazy temp so i tried the rectal one and could not beleive how off it was. I even tried it on myself it says that my temp is off by alot like 3-5 degrees. Yet it works on my hubby so I am not sure Iknow we are using it correctly but no luck in having it give me and my daughter an accurate reading well maybe you would have better luck then we do but I woul dnot wast my momey on this product.Customer Review: Easy to use

This thermometer is really easy to use. It has given me accurate reading on myself- I am a dork and checked it against two different digital thermometers we have at home. This isn't really what a doctor would tell you to use to take an infants temp anyway- on a child less than a year old you are really supposed to take it rectally if they have a fever. That being said, I am really squeamish and if I am ever alone with the baby when he has a temperature, I am taking the ear one first to gauge.
