Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Thermoscan 1-second Read Thermometr , 1-second Read-outCustomer Review: not accurate! Summary: 1 Stars
I am so unhappy that I bought this thermometer. I have ended up not even being able to use it because it reads so innacurately. I have compared a rectal digital therm. reading several times with the thermoscan reading for my now 13 month old, and it is always off by at least 1 degree. The reading even changes by 1 to 3 degrees when I test it back to back, even on myself. I don't feel I can ever trust that it will be accurate, so I am sticking with the rectal/digital thermometer. I wish I would have known this before spending so much money on something useless!
Customer Review: Not the most accurate thermometer Summary: 2 Stars
FYI...my baby was delivered at 35 weeks causing a stay in the neonatal icu. I was considering purchasing this thermometer before our arrival until I asked a couple of nurses if it was better than the under the arm thermometer that they use. they use the under the arm because it is the most accurate reading. The ear readings can be very inconsistent according to different factors such as which ear they use and position of the ear and lack of steady contact. I will be using the under the arm when my girl gets home. just wanted to pass the info along.
Customer Review: Not very accurate for infants Summary: 3 Stars
I was a ped nurse not too long before i became a mom and it is not recommened that you use these thermometers on infants. But I must say that the ear thermometers used in the hospital seemed a lot more accurate that this particular one. It is all abt technique and even someone like me still has trouble with it. My husband and I used it one ourselves and got temperatures off by a degree with several reads! It is probably more user error than a fault in the thermometer. I still think a rectal temperature is the most accurate on an infant.
Customer Review: Not reliable... Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this thinking it was going to be the best thing since sliced bread but was proved wrong. I've never had an accurate reading and I'm not saying it was off by a few tenths or even a degree. It's been off by 5-8 degrees. Also, my daughter has had 2 fevers. We've used this thermometer a total of 4 times & I've already replaced the batteries twice. I thought the new batteries would cure the inaccuracy but I was wrong. I've thrown it away and I'm sticking to the rectal temperature as it's the one the Doctor's want anyway.
Customer Review: Wonderful thermometer Summary: 5 Stars
This thermometer works great, and is less invasive to your child. It is very accurate when used right. Being a nurse, I had no problem figuring out how to use it properly, but some people seem to have trouble. The directions are easy to understand though. It is lightweight. It works very quickly. I do recommend practicing before your child is sick though so that you know what is normal for them, and how to use the thermometer. My child runs a lower than normal temperature, and you want to know that ahead of time.
