Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad
If you're a first time GPS user, CAREFULLY consider the placement of it in YOUR particular vehicle. Long sloping windshields make for terrible sightlines and curved dashboards make adherence of the adhesive disc impractical. We considered none of this when purchasing our Tom-Tom XL and were frustrated to realize we had no place practical to put it. Also, keep in mind moveability if more than one vehicle is in the story line. If your GPS doesn't have a lever to increase suction (TOM-TOM DOESN"T!), it WILL NOT stick for long to glass or plastic so you'll need the disc and thereby establish permanancy. The weighted, flexible, AND moveable BRACKETRON has been the perfect solution for up-close dashboard use and though I was leary of it being stable enough, it really does grip its surface and support the GPS weight perfectly. VERY PLEASED with this inexpensive solution.

I have a Navigon 7100 and use it with the long windshield mount that is included with the GPS. This allows you to put the mat toward the bottom of the windshield and the GPS unit is still close and right where you need it to be. The concept of not having it semi-permanently attached is beneficial for taking it down to put either on the floor out of clear site or bring it inside to prevent theft. I have yet to see it tip over on my dash or move at all even with the head unit being 4.3" and roughly a foot away from the base making it extremely lopsided. Plus, most mounts keep the head unit close to the base so you shouldn't have any problem with that style either. The plastic was quite shattered when I opened the box but it didn't affect the product at all. I don't think it's obnoxious looking like people have said, it's better than getting a ticket for having it mounted to the windshield. I have a PT Cruiser. There is not one single flat surface on the dashboard to mount the suction cup or the stick-on mount. I did not want to lure break-ins with the mount on the windshield or a tell-tale windshield ring. I have a Navigon 2100. This mount works great. When I park, I just snap the GPS unit out of the holder tabs, put the charger-plug and cord into the glove box and shove the NavMat (with the suction holder still attached) under the passenger seat. No evidence to lure thieves. I leave it in the car and keep the GPS in my purse. I also have a automobile-plug to A/C-plug adapter, so I can charge my Navigon in the house, so it is always charged up. I got a Navigon for my daughter also, and the first thing I told her was to get on Amazon and order one of these. She loves hers too. I'm ordering 3 more for other members of my family. Amazon prices on this go up and down, but it is well worth it at whatever price.Customer Review: Works great even in a sports car

This is a great product. Works just as described. I have a Tomtom One XL and a Mercedes SLK. I have read previous reviews saying that this product doesn't work well with either. I have had no problems. My dash and windshield are very slanted & it makes it hard for the Tomtom to mount on the window without having to put a cloth or something under it to stabilize it. This product just sits on the dash & doesn't move. The person who said it slides off the dash must have been trying to put it near the cup holder at the front of the dash. If you put it nearer the window & not on top of the speaker (where the cupholder is) it just does its job. It makes it easy to stow away & make changes to your route by just picking it up. No more little circles on the window & fighting to get it just right on the windshield. I just bought my daughter a GPS for Christmas & bought her this little gem as well. I am amazed at how simple and effective this mount is.
Our first Garmin GPS stopped sticking securely on the windshield after moving the unit between cars several times - having the unit crash down and slide all over the place is very distracting while driving.
I purchased the Nav-Mat when we replaced our old GPS (1 drop to many) and have been THRILLD with it.
- Rock solid - no movement at all
- Better visual placement sitting on dash than hanging on windshield
- Simply move entire unit (with GPS attached) under dashboard or seat to hide when parking the car
- Simply move entire unit to another car, toss onto dashboard and go
Look for a price-point of ~$20 + shipping.
PS - The guy who couldn't get his unit to stick needs only to clean the base and the unit pad with windex or rubbing alcohol and it will never come free accidentally.
