Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bracketron UFM-100BL Nav-Mat GPS Friction Dash Pad

Customer Review: Great product! Highly recommended!
Summary: 5 Stars

Purchased this dash pad with a Garmin 285. While this pad was less expensive than some of the others on Amazon, it had the best reviews so I thought I would try it. I'm glad I did, the product is very well constructed! Tough materials all around! The pads weight and the tacky material on the bottom keep it and my new Nuvi solidly mounted on my dash. In my 2008 Honda CRV, the center part of the dash where the pad is placed is smooth plastic without any texture what so ever. The pad and device have never budged a millimeter. In my 2004 Ford F-150, the dash is textured somewhat, but again it has never moved.

My original GPS device was always attached to windshield via the suction mount. I REALLY like the convenience of using the dash pad! It can be easily transferred to different vehicles and having the ability to place it on the floorboard makes me feel better about avoiding getting my window smashed and my new Nuvi stolen (TIP: I use a small square piece of soft fleece-like black material to camouflage/conceal the GPS unit while its on the floor. The cloth also doubles as a GPS screen/sunglasses/windshield cleaner).

I my opinion you cannot beat the price, quality and functionality of the Bracketron dash pad!

Customer Review: Great Product - Versatile for any make/model GPS
Summary: 5 Stars

This GPS mount will work great for ANY system. Here's how: It's a free standing holder with a heavy beanbag rim. It has a very smooth, slick, flat center disk. You simply use the suction mount that came with YOUR particular GPS system, by locking it into the center of the disk - then place the bean bag unit anywhere you want. The bottom of the unit is made of a non-slip material that assures it will sit and stay put - anywhere you choose. Adjusting the viewing angle needed is easily accomplished (again) with "your" suction mount arm. I actually place mine on my console and angle it up toward me. Storage: Since thieves commonly target cars whose windshields have a GPS suction "mark" on them (even though you've hidden the GPS) this makes placing it out of sight even better, because you just slide the entire thing under a seat. When you get back in the car - you just bring the whole thing back up and there's no re-attaching it every time. It's a little pricey, when you add shipping, but it's made well, and there's no question as to whether it will work with your make or model - if you have a windshield suction mount that is! It's black, and about 6 inches in diameter. Hope this helps. PS - I have a Magellan Maestro 3100

Customer Review: A Startlingly SUPERB Universal Mount
Summary: 5 Stars

This is definitely THE mount to purchase for your GPS unit! (And if bought at the same time as your GPS, Amazon offers unbeatable deals on it.)

Mine is used with the Navigon 2100MAX widescreen GPS - in a 1996 Buick LeSabre and a 2000 Dodge Ram Pickup, both of which have 'challenging' compound-curved dash tops. It has been put through its paces over the past few months - everything I can throw at it - and it absolutely DOES NOT MOVE from where you plant it. Its 'staying power' is far superior to any suction-cup mounts I have ever used, and is also better than some 'hard-attached' mounts I have experienced. About the only thing that might dislodge it, I've concluded, would be if you overturned the vehicle - in which case, GPS damage is the least of your worries.

I rate this as THE 'Must Have' Accessory for your GPS investment - great 'insurance' against damage to your GPS unit. Also, unlike ANY other mounting method, it allows for an infinite range of 'fine tuning' to get the position of your GPS display 'just right' for you. It works so well for the GPS mounting challenge, that I plan to get a second one - to take care of the equally perplexing Cellphone mounting challenge.

Customer Review: Nav-MAt and Navigon 7100 GPS
Summary: 5 Stars

GPS = Navigon 7100, Vehicle = Nissan Murano & Lincoln Continental

I purchased this mount because I have a Nissan Murano with the steep rake to the windshield. If I attach the suction mount to the windshield the only position in which I can reach the GPS is on the very left side of the windshield. which makes for a messy reach for the power cord to the right side of the center gauge/radio console. I also had difficulty mounting in our Conti without obstructing the view but with this mount it brings the GPS forward out of view and easier to reach.

Also the attachment of the suction cup is difficult.

This mount is ideal allowing me to position the GPS on the dash at @ the 1:00 position above the steering wheel allowing a semi concealed power cord and traffic antenna.

I was a little anxious when ordering as the diameter of the suction circle was not printed in the spec sheets and I was not sure my Navigon 7100 suction cup would fit. The suction circle is @ 3 5/8" Diameter which is larger than the Navigon mount.

Also the Navigon Suction mount is unique in its curved profile and its long reach.

I am very pleased with the combination.

Customer Review: Simply does not work, slides like a hockey puck on ice, buy the I.trek instead
Summary: 1 Stars

I use to have a Garmin and bought their friction pad and it NEVER slipped on my car or any other car I used it in.

I then bought this for my second car navigation unit a Magellan and it has been nothing but slipping and sliding from day one. I will say on a couple of rental cars it seemed ok so it might be my particular dashboard. However on that same dashboard with the Garmin product I had no slipping or sliding whatsoever. So it could have worked and it should have worked.

It is simple to set-up, but I would look for alternative if possible. If the Garmin one would work for your non-Garmin GPS then go for it. If you have a Garmin and you are saying well let me save a few bucks and go with this: DON'T. Use the Garmin friction pad, that is a great product. Also I have now used the HDFMB-2: i.Trek V2 Open Front Heavy Duty Friction Mount Base for Garmin, TomTom, Magellan GPS Devices I.Trek instead. Awesome pad. On the same exact dash this was sliding around on, it is super-stable AND smaller. In fact I bought another I.Trek for my father-in-law and it has not slipped once for him either.
