Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Bower Filter Wrench. Set of 2. Fits 48-58mm Filters

Customer Review: Great for circular polarizers and other filters
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have filters on your camera, whether it's a UV filter that is on the lens 99% of the time, or you change filters often, then I highly recommend getting these lens wrenches. This product is particular useful in loosening my B+W Circular Polarizer because the wrench can lock onto the screw-in portion of the filter, instead of the rotating outside layer. The one time that I couldn't get my UV filter off and I didn't have the wrenches around, I really regretted it. Now I carry them with me in my camera bag all the time, since they don't take up much space. I bought these and the larger size ones, and since there are two wrenches in each pack, I gave one set to a friend.

Beware though, if you tighten your filters onto your lenses with as much force as you're tightening the pipes in your bathroom, then you're going to have trouble getting the filter loose with any product.

I agree that the shipping cost from the vendor is pretty high for this product. I have the luxury of living in NYC, so I just walked over and got these in person. If you know someone in NYC, get them to pick these up for you. Or you can save up a bunch of items and order them all at once to save on shipping.

Customer Review: Yes they do (work)

Recently my SLR suffered a strong blow that broke the filter glass and slightly dented the metal rim. I have always had a strong grip, but try as I might, I had no luck in removing the broken filter. I resorted to pliers! Still no luck. I contemplated the loss of the lens that would be the effect of failure to remove the broken filter. Then I ordered a set of these filter wrenches. The broken filter came off, effortlessly. Effortlessly!

I figured it was a once-in-a-lifetime problem. Then, the first time I switched from a skylight to a polarizer filter on my new Nikon D90, it got stuck. (And I purposefully didn't tighten it hard.) Try removing this kind of filter with your bare hands when it's stuck (as suggested by another reviewer). Unfortunately, I had not taken the filter wrench with me, and I was in an extremely remote Arctic location. The result? Lots of lost once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities. Back home I found my Adorama filter wrench. Again it worked. No problem. It's a permanent addition to my camera bag.

You may not need the wrenches often. But when you need them, you REALLY need them. And given the price, what's to lose? They're cheap, lightweight, and best of all, they really work. I'm a fan.

Customer Review: Camera Must-Have!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these Filter Wrenches for my Canon Powershot S3 IS. I screwed a filter on a little too tight, and as I was struggling to twist and turn and pull it off, I stopped and thought... "Ya know, maybe this isn't such a good idea. I might break the filter I JUST bought less than 24 hours ago..." Luckily, I found these wrenches and it took the filter off easily, potentially saving me a lot of money for a replacement filter... as well as saving me a lot of emotional grief if I had broken my new filter within a day. Oi!

Not to mention the fact that I bought them from Adorama - what a cheap price for a product that is SO good to have! Every photographer needs these.

Customer Review: I'm sure it works for its intended purpose

I bought this to remove a filter from a lens that i dropped - the filter had gotten dinged pretty good and was bent. I was hopeful that these would work to remove it but they didn't. I'm sure they work fine to remove filters that are just hard to get off - but don't buy them expecting them to remove a damaged filter that is crimped on the screw rings of the lens. Not saying they're a bad product, and i'll keep them in my camera bag to switch filters that are sticky from humidity, etc. But take your damaged stuck on filters to the camera shop - I broke my lens trying to get mine off.

Customer Review: Put simply, it works!!!

OK, so I bought a camera off eBay, shot wonderful test pictures, everything worked, no scratches, but the lens filter was stuck on. I tried cupping my hand, using a glove, putting the lens filter down on the rubber back of a mouse pad, nothing worked. I was worried I just got a new camera with a lens whose filter will never come off, or worse, it was dropped and I can't tell. I ordered these for a 58mm filter from another online camera retailer. I placed one wrench on the filter holding the lens, twisted a little, and off it came. Easy as pie. Buy them, they work!
