Customer Review: They absolutely sang
Summary: 5 Stars

These Boston MM-220 computer speakers are truly amazing. I didn't think they were all that good when I had them hooked up to my craptop computer's headphone output but when I connected my old Akai reel-to-reel directly to the additional input on the side of the right speaker (very handy) they absolutely sang.

The sound was well balanced with just enough bass (no sub-woofer, remember) for just about any type of music that was playing. While they won't shake the rafters they do play plenty loud for just about any two channel computer or portable application you can hook up to them.

That said you must remember that these speakers are primarily designed to accompany computers which, unfortunately, usually contain the most minimal of sound systems/cards built in to them. So unless you order your computer with an upgraded sound card or replace the OEM sound card with a really decent one please don't expect these babies to perform at their best.

I got them for a $29.99 discounted price plus shipping. The Amazon.com price of $39.99 includes shipping so they came to about the same price. So, no matter where you get them they are a wonderful choice. I can highly recommend them particularly where price and space are important factors.

Customer Review: Great Speakers!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not an audiophile, I'm just an amateur who was trying to replace his shoddy old speakers. That being said, a little research on speakers pointed me to these and I am very pleased with them. They have a full sound and don't seem to be lacking in any range of frequencies. They do have a bulky electric adapter of some kind, but it hides under my desk easily enough, and these speakers get louder than my old ones ever got and still manage to maintain a good quality of sound. This is great for when I want to play music while I'm doing the dishes (my computer is on the other side of my apartment). The base of each speaker is actually soft rubber, which reduces sound quality loss caused by vibration through your countertop. I was also surprised with the level of bass on these, even without a subwoofer. I originally wanted the set with a subwoofer but demurred because of the price. Having bought these, I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money on the subwoofer, as this is all I need. To be fair, my old speakers were pretty bad, so anything would've been an upgrade. If you're coming to these from an already decent pair of speakers (or even a bad subwoofer) then they might not have all the bass you want. For everyone else, though, they're great.

Customer Review: For the price, 5 stars!
Summary: 5 Stars

I paid 29 bucks plus shipping for these speakers. The sound quality is quite good actually, being 2.0 speakers you do miss the lower frequencies however that's one of the tradeoffs of a 2.0 system. My college room is 8*10 and they perform the job of filling my room with good music admirably. They are great for movies as well as music. They might not have the low lying thump of subwoofers but they do have decent bass thanks to special bass radiators.
Onto the buzzing noise problem my speakers seem to have gotten better with time. The first few days I'd hear the intermittent buzzing, however after about a week of constant use I find that the buzzing noise has completely disappeared! This is not a guarantee that the buzzing noise will go away in all speakers but it did on mine.
All in all I really like the form factor, sound quality and the price! of these bA babies. They're definitely a keeper!!

Customer Review: Boston Acoustics Speakers
Summary: 4 Stars

I was looking for a set of speakers for my laptop and my desktop PC. I was looking at some Logitech speakers, but when I saw the price these speakers were advertised for (one quarter of the price at Fry's), I decided to give them a try.

Pros:
The speakers sound pretty good (I'm no expert audiophile)
Price was great
Small footprint

Cons:
No bass or treble adjustment
They don't sound like the advertised power (80 W!!!!!)
They keep falling over on my mobile PC cart(the base is too small)
They get feedback from my bluetooth cell phone, the cordless phone and my laptop's Wi-Fi

Assessment:
If I had paid list price, they would have gone back to the store. At less than $30.00, they're a keeper. This could be a great product if they had better interference shielding and a more stable base.

Customer Review: Not great sounding - returned them.

I had some Klipsch 2.0 powered computer speakers hooked up to my Airport Express in my master bedroom for streaming iTunes. They sound great but the volume knob failed where it would drop out at some settings, so I wanted to replace them and the BA units seemed to fit the bill -- good reviews and a good price. But I did side-by-side comparisons and the Klipschs blew away the BA units. I actually took the Klipsch units apart and sort of fixed the volume-setting problem, then returned the BA units.

The BA units sounded just OK - basically like slightly upgraded TV speakers. No low end, marginal mid range. Can't recommend them. Amazon and the end (Audio Advisor I think) were great about refunding w/ no restocking fee. Look at the Klipsch 2.0 units -- probably more $$ but like most things in life, you get what you pay for.
