Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Replacement Battery for Canon LP-E5, EOS 450D, REBEL XSI, EOS REBEL XS, EOS 1000D (800 mAh)

Customer Review: Cheaper and better than the real thing
Summary: 5 Stars

Well this is sold as a replacement for the official battery you get from canon. It costs one fifth as much. So far so great.

The picture here indicates that it has the same capacity as the canon one: 1060mAh. That's not accurate. The one I received is marked 2000mAh. Twice as much capacity! Of course those things are not always accurate, but...well, it's holding up pretty well. It's hard to gauge because both of these batteries last so long in the XSI. But it definitely performs well.

In another location someone reviewed a generic replacement for this battery and said it was a slightly different size than the real one from canon and that you would have to pull it out with a toothpick or something. That's not true of mine. It fits perfectly and is exactly the same dimensions. It falls right out when you move the lever that holds it in place...just like the official canon version.

So besides capacity, what is different from the canon battery? This one is physically lighter.

Everything I've seen from this battery is better than the one canon sells. It's a real winner. I may just buy another one!

Customer Review: Replacement battery for Canon T1I performs like factory original
Summary: 4 Stars

This battery performs as well for me as the original Canon battery, yet it costs a fraction of the cost of the Canon battery. Even with shipping, the cost is so low that you can afford several. Keep them charged and take them on the "big shoot" and never worry about losing a shot because the battery went dead.

So far (two months of moderate use) the battery charges like the original, holds a charge as well as the original, and provides about the same number of shots or video time as the original. I have had no issues with long charging time, battery heating up while charging, swelling or warping of the battery, or battery life.

I can't speak to how the battery will perform in a year or more, but so far I am very satisfied, and particularly happy with the price that allowed me to buy two very reasonably.

Customer Review: Battery
Summary: 4 Stars

Bought 2 batteries for my Canon xsi, they seem to work just fine, the only thing is they don't pop out like the canon battery does when you move the release lever, you have to use a took pick and maneuver the battery from the side to get it out...there is a small flap on the side of the battery part of the camera, so you have to open that and then insert the pick to pull the battery out from there. So I will keep a couple toothpicks in my camera bag if I need to use these. I was very happy w/ the price, the Canon battery costs around $30 and this was a fraction of the cost, so I bought 2 of them for back ups. I haven't had an opportunity to shoot for long periods of time, so I am unsure of the actual battery life yet. I am happy with my purchase.

Customer Review: Worked exactly like the Cannon Battery
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased 2 of these batteries as extras for my Canon XSi and they work just as well as the Canon battery that came with my camera. I've seen other reviews that say they are too big and won't come out of the camera as well as the Canon battery, but that has not been the case with the ones I purchased. They fit in the camera perfectly and come out of the camera easily--just as easily as the Canon battery. They also last just about as long as the Canon battery. I can't tell the difference. I use them interchangably and don't even pay attention which battery I'm using. I think these batteries are a great value and would purchase them again if I needed replacements.

Customer Review: Good Alternative to More Expensive Canon Battery Pack
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased mine from BuyAccessories for $13.94 including a shipping charge of $4.99, which I thought was a bit high, although it was shipped via first class and arrived in two days. Mine looks similar to the photo except it is rated at 1500mAh. It charged in about an hour and half and appears to work just as well as the Canon battery pack that came with the camera. This one fits nicely into my Canon XS, and I have no trouble removing it from the camera. Only time will tell how well this will continue to work, but for less than one third of the Canon battery pack, this is a good buy.
