Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Black Rapid Straps RS4 Black Fabric, Lightweight and Low Profile, with ConnectR-2 and FastenR-2Customer Review: too expensive, returned for cheaper knock-off Summary: 3 Stars
I mean this is a great strap that most photographers would agreed is very practical and easy to use. Normal strip you'll have to rotate/slide it along your shoulder to get the camera up. Here you just lift it up along the strip, great idea. But is it worth over 55, not if you find an alternative. This piece of strap cost as much as a basic camera bag, and you are paying for a piece of strip and a metal connector.
I found an alternative sliding strip here in theRainbowImaging Quick Release Oxford Neck Strap and will buy theBlack Rapid FastenR-3 for R-Strap, this would save me a lot over the RS-4. The price is highway robbery and I had enough time to returned it. It is a great product though. I had my Nikon D7000 with the Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II and it felt great with the rs-4.
Customer Review: BlackRapid Strap Summary: 5 Stars
I do a lot of street shooting and have grown to dislike the normal Nikon strap that comes with your camera. I saw a print ad about the Black Rapid strap and decided to try it out. Santa delivered it and I really dig this thing.
No more fumbling with the old style straps, twisting and tugging and having it swing back and forth on your hip.
With this strap my camera (Nikon D300 with a 24-70- pretty heavy combo) sits upside down on my hip or almost centered in the middle of my back. It takes the weight off your neck and sits very comfortably.
But, the true advantage is when you grab the camera with one hand, slide it up the strap, put camera to your eye and start shooting. No thinking, debating- just grab, slide and shoot.
I haven't really thought much of whether it is expensive or not, all I know is that I have finally found a great strap to take some of the awkwardness out of shooting with my camera.
Yeah it does make you wonder that with such a simple invention, why didn't I think of it, but you didn't,so get over it and enjoy your shooting experience.
Customer Review: Sling is better than the strap Summary: 3 Stars
I'm giving it a 3 stars because it's way over priced.
As for the product itself I give it a 5/5 stars! This strap is way better than the original strap that comes with your camera because it doesn't get to hang around your neck and make yourself look like a goober. From the front view it looks as if you are carrying a messenger bag, but when you're talking to someone and you reach for you camera, people's reaction are surprised to see that you're carrying a camera the whole time. It's very low profile. Also it's design for quick draw is genius. The camera can be concealed behind your back and you can just reach for it whenever you need while you're walking around. You won't have any neck pain and there's a zip pocket on the strap for minor accessories such as extra memory cards.
As for the screw on part to hold your camera, I have the D90, MB-D80 battery pack, with a 85mm f/1.8 lens. Moderately heavy but the screw on part is very strong and stable. No need to worry about the camera falling off the strap.
Customer Review: Useful in most situations Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this strap while traveling with my 5DmKII and 24-105mm lens. It's quite comfortable to use and for the most part slides up and down as advertised. Problems that I ran into were
(1) with the lens always pointing down my lens tended to always slide out to 105mm. This I realize is not the fault of the strap but you don't realize this is going to be an issue when compared to the normal strap around your neck that faces forward
(2) since it's hanging on the side you need to always be aware of extra space to the side so that you don't bang into things and people. So, typically I find that I am always holding the camera with my right hand to prevent such bumps and
(3) the sliding mechanism gets stuck every now and then since the strap can get twisted around near where the camera is hanging near your waist. Not a big issue but thought I would mention it as part of the review.
I would recommend buying it but only if you have a little disposable income for exotic accessories.
Customer Review: Best camera strap I've owned Summary: 5 Stars
Traditional camera straps put all of the weight of the camera on your neck and no matter how light the camera, sooner or later it becomes, literally becomes a pain in the neck! The Black Rapid strap lets you put the weight on your shoulders where it belongs. It's much more comfortable than a traditional camera strap and not as cumbersome.
I found the strap easy to adjust and set up to match my preferences. It allows me to get the camera up to my eye quickly without getting tangled up. Here's a hint to using the Black Rapid: When lifting the camera to your eye, do so in a way that there is no slack in the strap. This will prevent the shoulder pad from slipping out of place. But, even if the shoulder pad does slip, it returns to your shoulder when the camera drops back to the resting position at your side.
It really is a great strap. Perhaps a bit expensive, but I think it's worth it just from the comfort aspect alone.
