I installed a second after market cigarette/power outlet in my Toyota specifically to power my Garmin Nuvi 255WT. Everything worked perfectly then I decided to clean up the interior a little by replacing the bulky Garmin power adapter with this nice clean Belkin Micro USB charger. The first time I plugged it in it blew the fuse. After investigating the problem I found out that you can push the Adapter too far into the cigarette/power outlet and the plastic housing will push the 12V prongs out and they can make contact with the grounded housing creating a short. Since I do not plan on using the lighter the prongs are of no use to me so I cut them off and haven't had a problem since. Now that everything is installed and working I'm very happy with the product it almost vanishes into the console you can't even tell it's there and my Nuvi is quite happily sitting there telling how much further to my destination. What would be my ultimate solution is if someone would make a USB port that fits in the standard accessory switch blanks they put in many vehicles.
