Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin TuneBase FM Transmitter for iPod with Dock Connector (Black)Customer Review: Piece of (expletive deleted) Summary: 1 Stars
This was my fourth and final FM transmitter. I have finally given up. This was by far the worst of the four I have tried.
Here's a list of all the reasons this FM transmitter is horrible:
1. It broadcasts engine noise.
2. Even with perfectly empty stations, you will always have interference and static, without any rhyme or reason. Somedays it will be clear and the next day it will be staticky.
3. It doesn't have enough signal strength to create any reasonable volume at all.
4. Eventually it will give up and stop broadcasting all together (mine stopped working less than a month after I got it--this is of course generously granting that it ever worked at all, which it didn't).
My Belkin Tune Base is now acting as a $60 ipod charger. I gave up and bought an $8.99 cassette tape thing that plugs into the headphone jack. I finally have the sound I wanted from the beginning.
Customer Review: What a SURPRISE Summary: 5 Stars
I have a 60 GB Ipod and I have tried 4 other products in my car but this one is by far my favorite. None of the accessories that are offered for the Ipod sound 100% and never have static or interference but this one gives you the most options for changing radio stations. Increasing the volume is somewhat confusing but not impossible. Overall this product is the best on the market for those with cigarette lighter adapters in awkward places. You must be careful with adjusting the neck.
I recommend handling this product with care because it is delicate. Recently my TuneBase stopped working because one of the parts broke. I called Belkin and they replaced it with a new one no questions asked. Not many companies stand behind their products like that. I am pleased with the no hassle return because I LOVE this product and would have been unhappy if forced to change to something else.
Customer Review: TuneBase FM Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really great product which I had wanted like ... forever ! Works great in car, looks neat, clear audio thru FM,charges iPod as well. I considered this for a very long time because no one could really tell me how to use this. So in case you have the same problem, it is very simple ... you search for a FM frequency that has most static (no music station playing, then you tune your TuneTalk to the same frequency) then voila ! Your iPod music comes thru loud and clear. At certain spots where FM is weak, there may be some static interference - other than that, it is real cool. Small inconvenience may be that you need to search for yr songs or a better frequency .. don't do that while driving! Also fits other ipods in case you are owner of several. Great product! By the way, what makes it greater for me is that it's a birthday present from my hunny and I simply love this and him ! ;)
Customer Review: The best FM Transmitter for IPod Summary: 5 Stars
After trying other IPod/MP3 player FM transmitters, I had just about concluded that, living in the DC metropolitan area, it was just not worth it. Others gave too much static and a weak signal through my car radio. But after trying the Belkin Stereo dock (rave reviews - check it out) on my home stereo system, I figured it was worth a shot - especially since they seem to be closing out this model and the price was very inexpensive ($14) - so nothing to lose by trying. It is undoubtedly the best one out there. Crystal clear reception, plus it automatically finds the best unused frequencies. And, it is very attractive and solidly built. I love the flexible arm - it puts the IPod right up there where it is sturdy, easily viewable, and very attractive - not 'cheap' looking or trailing cords everywhere. I highly recommend this model.
Customer Review: Two thumbs up Summary: 5 Stars
Looked around on the web for auto docks. I read the reviews and bought the Belkin. Product looks great and works great. As long as you don't live in a huge city I think you'll be able to find "dead space" on your radio to tune in the transmitter. Sound is excellent in my Beamer 328i. Doesn't get in the way of the shifter. The flexible support is easy to position and it comes with a ring spacer to make the fit tighter in your 12V outlet. I found I didn't need the spacer. Seems to stay put and is easy to reach. While driving cross-country, I did have to change the transmitter frequency due to new competing FM stations (one time). You can do this with the presents. One reviewer said this was touchy, but if you read the INSTRUCTIONS, you'll have no problems. Over all a great product and I'm happy with my purchase.
