When I opened the package, the smell of the mouse was overpowering. It had a strong rubber odor that was very unpleasant. I'm hoping that will go away soon. I love the gel wrist pad. There is a little groove in it which my wrist fits on nicely. The mouse moving on the pad makes a noise like your fingers would make when running over a piece of paper and that is a little annoying. However, the mouse moves smoothly enough.Customer Review: exceeded my expectations

This item is exactly what I hoped it would be! Very comfortable on bone in the heel of my hand and works well with infra-red mouse.( I had previously returned a mouse pad to the local office supply store because it would not track with my Mac mouse). This item is available in stores, but Amazon makes shopping so easy! This mouse pad smells bad like an awful oil refinery.
I let it air out in the basement for a month and it didn't help any.
I wouldn't be surprised if the odor is toxic.
Mine may be may have been stored in a bad location before it was shipped,
But either way they one I have is worse than useless. Can't work with it if you are just going to end up with a head ache.

I have had the Belkin wave rest for more than 5 years and it is a 5 start product through and through. I love the cushion level, the size and the tracking with my optical mouse.
This reduces strain on my wrist noticeably and I would recommend shoppers consider getting one for work if they spend many hours in front of a computer.
