Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Cable (10 Feet)

Customer Review: Quality USB 2.0 cable
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this cable to connect my printer to my computer. It works flawlessly.

Belkin is a respected manufacturer and their attention to detail and quality are apparent. As described by the manufacturer, some of its important features are: "Molded strain relief and PVC overmolding make the cable durable, while its impedance-matched, twisted-pair construction minimizes cross talk, ensuring high-speed, error-free transmission. Gold-plated copper contacts provide maximum conductivity and minimize data loss. An aluminum undermold shield helps meet FCC requirements on EMI/RFI interference, and its foil-and-braid shield complies with fully rated cable specifications, reducing EMI/RFI interference."

The very low prices offered by some of the Amazone sellers, make it a real bargain compared to other USB cables on the market.

Customer Review: Plug and play USB 2.0
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed a USB 2.0 cable to extend the reach of a Dexis digital X-ray sensor. These were perfect. Actually we had installed 2 lengths of single port 16' Tripp Lite USB 2.0 active extension cables from a pc and used this 10' cable as the final reach to a 2-port Cables to Go USB 2.0 switch box which was then connected to a 4-port USB 2.0 hub (also by Belkin). All the cables were in underground PVC tubing and routed from the PCs to the operatory cabinets.

The sensor was plugged into the powered hub and everything worked great. I tested the speed using a USB thumb drive and each PC gave me readings of 22.4 MB/s (or about 180 Mb/s). I've heard stories of iffy USB cable connectors and/or wire gauges that were too high (thickness too small); but these were good performers. Overall I am satisfied.

Customer Review: It's a cable.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used various USB cables and they are all the same quality, especially for printing. The transfer on most is at least forty times faster than you'll ever need it to be for that purpose. Just grab the cheapest one that matches your setup.

That said, Belkin's great. Their lifetime warranty's kind of useless unless you're just really careless with cable placement, but it's nice to have. The tip is easy to grip, but I don't really see the point of the design. Plenty of length for your average office setup.

One thing to note is that the color's not black... it's a dark grey, which is noticeably lighter than all black cables. Not a big deal, and it looks better than the off-white one that came with my printer, but I would've preferred black.
It's a cable. Just get it.

Customer Review: Works Great, Costs Less
Summary: 5 Stars

Best Buy was offering an HP multifunction printer for $90. It had the features I wanted and the price looked great, so I bought it.

Of course the cable was not included, so I bought the least expensive USB cable in the store, which was a "premium quality" model with gold plated connectors for close to $40. I wanted to hook up the printer, so I bought the cable, too, but the price seemed a bit steep, so before I opened the package, I decided to see what else was available. I found the Belkin cable on Amazon for $5.99.

The Belkin cable has worked flawlessly. I returned the gold plated cable and pocketed over $30 in savings.

I am happy with the Best Buy HP printer, but when it comes to hooking it up, the Belkin cable from Amazon was the best buy.

Customer Review: Belkin 10-foot USB printer cable
Summary: 5 Stars

Very happy with it, and data transfer to my printer is fast on my older computer. Belkin makes a good product; I have had a Belkin 4-slot flash card reader for some time and love it. The price was almost too good to be true but it's great, most places wanted a lot more up to $30 for a 10" USB cable. The first one I bought had the wrong kind of connector ends (another vendor). My bad, didn't do my homework well enough. Delivery was fast. I'd like another one for my other computer so I don't have to pull it out of the back of the tower but just the printer slot to switch and print from my other computer (my two are networked to get on the internet thru a router but won't "talk" to each other). But for many print jobs, I can easily find a way around that for now.
