This device packs all necessary features into one compact, small package that fits easily in your bags - which is just what you want on the road. The socket adapters easily unfold and with compatibility for European, British and US standard plugs, you pretty much have all bases covered wherever you go.
And what about the performance?
Well, some of you may say "What's there to perform for a travel adapter? All you do is plug in your gadgets, and that's that, right?"
That's almost right, but having tried other travel adapters, there really is a ton of complications you can have with them. Some adapters fall of the wall when you connect heavier plugs (esp. ones where the charger/converter is built into the plug). Others are finicky and sensitive to touch or accidental bumps, losing charge off and on. Others won't fit a number of sockets for some reasons. And so on...
But on the contrary, the Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter comes through as one reliable, sturdy device. It keeps up the current even if accidentally touched or bumped into and hugs the wall like Spiderman.
So in short, this is a reliable device at a great price point / value, and a versatile companion on the road.
Just remember that you may still need an electric currency transformer for some devices, so check the voltage range on the device or charger before plugging it in - this will save you from eventually frying the heck out of it.

I travel extensively internationally (around 30 weeks a year) so I was looking for a universal adapter that I could stick in my bag instead of having to remember to bring the right adapter for each business trip.
I tried this adapter out and found it was lacking.
Pros:
1. It does work in most outlets worldwide. The one exception is some UK safety sockets...more later
2. It is not too terribly large
3. The trendy white color :-)
Cons:
1. It will stop working frequently when using the europlug. In order to make electrical contact the europlug must be flipped all the way up. Unfortunately it is on a hinge with very little resistance so any weight on it (like a cable plugged into it) causes the plug adapter itself to rotate on this hinge causing the plug to lose contact. You only have to wake up to a dead cell phone once before figuring this out.
2. It does not work in UK safety sockets. Some of the safety sockets in the UK require the grounding pin to hit a switch that allows the rest of the plug to go in. For some reason this plug does not always work in those.
3. It is bigger than it looks in the picture.
In summary, buy the Kensington model instead. I have 2 and they work great.

I bought the adaptor and for the first time tried to use it in Hong Kong. I didn't take the instructions with me because it looked pretty simple. I noted in some reviews that people had problems using it in England but the instructions said it would work in Hong Kong. I was able to find the little plastic piece that you apparently need for the English and Hong Kong type plug but I couldn't figure out how to use it. The flat prongs that rotate were too narrow to go in the plug and the only other option were the round European prongs. Since they were round and not flat I didn't attempt to use them, although I did think about it. When I got home and looked at the instructions I think I could have used the round prongs and the little plastic piece on the receptacles in Hong Kong. The instructions need to better. I think a lot of users have had similar problems. Other than that it is a nice compact piece of travel equipment.
Customer Review: Don't be fooled when they say "Works will all types of outlets in the U.S., Europe, Asia, China, and the UK"

I was taking a trip to Ireland and even though this product claims: "Works will all types of outlets in the U.S., Europe, Asia, China, and the UK" It does not in fact work for the power outlets in Ireland, which I have found are a three-pronged, blade style outlet. Think of the U.S. grounded outlet, except for the Irish ones are generally larger and all three conductors are like thick blades. Needless to say, this unit was useless to me unless, of course, I needed to use it as a projectile. Couple that with the fact that it does nothing to adjust the power cycle and what you have is a perfectly designed paperweight designed to look like something more useful. Do yourself a favor and buy from the experts on international travel, not Amazon, just because they are the first thing that pops up in a Google search. I was hesitant to purchase after reading the reviews however after doing some research on what I needed this became the obvious choice of other adpaters I was looking at. First off you have to check whatever item you want to plug into it. If the product you want to plug into it has an input of 100-240v or anything inbetween (110-240v for example) than this product works without any additional converters. If your product does not have the before mentioned voltage inputs and is only rated 110 or 240 you will need a voltage converter taking the voltage up or down depending on your input necessary to power your device. To check your device: if it has a transformer (box in between the plug and the adapter to your device) it will have the necessary information. If your product does not have an adapter (like a cell phone charger) it will be located on the plug area.
