Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin BZ103050vTVL Mini Surge Protector/Dual USB ChargerCustomer Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I'm disappointed with the product.. it's billed for traveling and charging motorola phones, among others. First of all it's WAY TOO HEAVY to carry around traveling considering the weight and size limitations that are being placed by airlines.
As for charging my Razr phone.. when I plug it in it turns the phone on, but does NOT charge it. I purposely let my phone run down and plugged it in overnight and while it did turn on, it did not charge the battery.
I think it misses out on both of it's main advertised claims.. good for traveling and charging motorola phones.
Customer Review: Not Enough Power to Charge iPad on USB port Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this because of its 2 USB ports. I have a couple of devices that I wanted to charge and thought I could eliminate the USB transformers that came with them and use this instead. This would be cleaner and provide some additional 110V outlets at the same time. Additionally, I liked the ability to swivel the strip so I could put the USB ports closest to where I needed them. I tried the USB power ports and determined they work on iPod's, iPhones, Kindles, but not iPads. For low power devices, this is great. For higher draw item like the iPad, you'll need to find another solution.
Customer Review: USB a little misleading Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this surge protector for a great price, I found it online somewhere for $10. The thing is that this surge is a little misleading.
I have only gotten the USB ports to charge my ipod. It does not work with my PSP or with my Treo.
Its supposed to work with mobile phones and mp3 players and virtually any other USB charging device. My Treo is a mobile phone and it does not work. I tested the same cable with my mac and it charges fine, it just doesn't charge with the surge protector.
Its still a great product but it needs more info about it.
Customer Review: Works OK but not for international travel Summary: 3 Stars
I initially got this Belkin charger thinking it would be useful for traveling, but it was not as compact as I had expected or hoped. It gets a lot of use at home though. Before buying, I was aware that it did not handle 220-240 volts, but you should keep this in mind if you are planning on traveling internationally. The USB outlets work as expected, capable of charging an iphone, ipod nano, a gps logger, and nexto extreme. I'd gladly give up one of the 3 prong outlets for a couple of more USB ports. A smaller size and support for 240v would have given it a couple of more stars.
Customer Review: Good for travel, will not charge iPad. Summary: 4 Stars
Very handy little device. I've been carrying one of those outdoor power splitters when I travel because hotels never have enough outlets. In fact, the nicer the hotel, the fewer outlets are available What's up with that?
Anyway, this thing does exactly what I wanted it to do except that it doesn't seem to have enough power in the USB charging ports to juice up the iPad. If you are getting this with the hope that it will charge your ipad and iphone without bringing your chargers, look elsewhere, or at least bring your ipad charger too.
