Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin BG108000-04 Conserve Energy-Saving Surge StripCustomer Review: Good Product - I like it Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this product to use behind my entertainment center. I have a surround sound system, an LCD TV, PS3, cable boxes all connected to a UPS. However, I have always wanted to find an energy strip that allowed me to switch off all the components without having to move the heavy entertainment center.
My research led me here to Amazon and the Belkin BG108000-04 energy saving surge strip. It functions as advertised and allows me to switch off all the electronic components from the remote that sits beside the light switches as I exit the main door. Very convenient! I am however only giving it four stars as sometimes it will not turn off the strip until I remove it from the cradle and point it directly behind the entertainment center. That aside, I am completely happy with the purchase and would recommend it to you.

I knew someone must have invented a product like this. Here it is. Easy to use surge protector that actually turns off the power to those items that constantly drain electricity, even when "off" (and running up the electric bill).
This product is "plug and play". Plug your stuff in (some outlets are for always on, most will turn off the items when they are not being used), put the remote switch in a convenient place, and you're good to go. No knobs to adjust, no frequencies to change. It just works.
I've seen a drop in the electric bill after just two weeks of using the surge strip with the TV and associated accessories.
A very simple way to conserve electricy, do our part for the environment, and save a few dollars at the same time. Does it get any better than that?
Customer Review: Good, not Great Summary: 3 Stars
OK, so I don't have any problems with the idea or functionality of this unit. It does what its supposed to do, I use mine to be able to switch lamps on and off (for those of us who don't have switched outlets to begin with).
My only issue is that the switch is pretty bulky, and it's pretty finicky. It takes a lot of force to click it on or off, and even with that amount of force, it doesn't always do the trick. Even Belkin knows this, as they outline this 'problem' in the instruction sheet, they advice that you push it even harder. Quite amusing actually.
So to sum it up, it works, but I don't really understand why the switch needs to be so big and difficult to turn on and off. Bonus points for coming with an adhesive backing so you don't have to screw it into your wall if you want to mount it.

I liked this one over the "smart" one that was on the market. I like the remove control to it, the always hot outlets, etc. After getting the energy usage monitor I learned that putting a computer to sleep doesn't stop its energy usage nor does turning it off. the printer is MUCH worse in that department. this is great, when I leave for work or go to sleep you just hit the button.
although the cost is around $30, it will take years to recoup that cost. they advertise it like you are plugging 6 printers into the one outlet. that might recoup its cost quickly....however i have my computer, printer, monitor, paper shredder, sharpener, etc... i think i was loosing 20 watts/hr total with everything in the "off mode" prior to using this surge.
downside... you have to remmeber to use it!!!
Customer Review: just want i needed Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this to turn off TV/VCR/DVD/DSL box/wireless box, all that junk that has a remote and when turned off is really still on, and the internet junk that when I'm not using is always on!!! I plug the satelite box and lamp in always ON, the the rest turns off at the click of the button when I go to bed, same with the internet DSL/wireless adapter box--I thought this would actually take longer to come up but I click the switch and walk back into the office and by the time the PC comes out of hibernation the connection is also ready to go!!! So I actually bought exactly what I needed and am pleased, thought it was a little more money that what it should be, I mean come on... it's a power strip with an easy access button you don't have to reach behind or under the electricals to turn off/on.
