Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin BG108000-04 Conserve Energy-Saving Surge StripCustomer Review: These are pretty nice - save engery if that is your thing Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these remote controlled surge protectors - one for the Home Theater and another for my computer rig. After hooking all the devices in, and I have many in the HT that draw continous power in stand by mode, I saw a decline energy bill. It was not a whole lot but it did make a difference. What is really nice is after I am done watching a movie or TV I can hit one switch all all the devices power off, nice, except for the cable box - that is plugged into one of the two always on outlets so that it does not have to redownload the guide everytime I power the system up.
Sine installing these I have replaced the HT one with a Belkin power filter because you will never know when lightning will strike. I could still use the switch but I did not want to daisy chain the power filter to the remote surge protector.

I will not go into the pro and cons of power filters here but will say the radio controlled surge protectors are awesome,
and very useful when you need to shut down a room with one switch.
Customer Review: Remote DOA; Support not much better Summary: 1 Stars
The remote control failed to turn the outlets off and on, although it lit up when it was pressed. I ensured that the DIP switches on the remote matched those on the surge protector itself. Still no good; pressing the remote control on or off had no effect on the actual unit. There is a manual switch that does work in turning the outlets on and off, but that negates the usefulness of having a remote control. Belkin's customer support number's only suggestion was to "check the battery in the remote." It's a non-standard battery size that I doubt many people would have lying around. That, combined with the fact the a little LED lights up on the remote when pressed, led me to tell the support person that I couldn't do much regarding the battery. His response was "Well, I don't know then." Belkin has great designs on some of their gadgets, but they seem to lack some quality. Since this is dealing with electricity and expensive equipment, I returned the product for a refund and will think twice before buying another one.
Customer Review: Electrical + social engineering Summary: 5 Stars
The mount-anywhere wireless switch is nice--not elegant looking, but big and functional. While I'm not sure how long it will take to recover the purchase price through eliminated leaking current (quite a long time, I suspect, as my TV is new and uses very little standby current), the Belkin Surge Strip actually saves electricity in a social engineering sort of way. I now find that I don't power my devices into standby mode unless I know that I am going to be using them for a period of time (e.g., to watch a movie or sporting event). So, I'm less inclined to turn the TV on for a few minutes when I happen to be in the kitchen only briefly. Generally, I only turn the surge-protected devices on in the evening and when I know that I'll be using them for a while. Otherwise, I just leave the switch in the OFF state. It's more like TVs, as entertainment devices, were intended to be used, it seems.
Customer Review: Works Great Summary: 4 Stars
This product is great. Our office has been doing everything we can to conserve energy and be "green." I purchased three of these remote surge strips and they work great. We use one to control all of our printers, with the remote mounted by the light switches at the front door. Each morning, the printers get turned on, and each night they get shut off. This saves tons of electricity, as we have 6 different printers, and they are often left on all night. Not anymore!
The remote works well and clicks in a satisfying manner when turning it on and off.
The two "always on" switches are great as well, since we want to make sure the fax remains on at all times.
One of these controls the microwave and coffee pot in the kitchen. The third is on my desk to control my cellphone charger, monitor and other lightweight gadgets.
Highly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Excellent, easy to use remote power strip switch Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent product, push the remote transmitter button and the surge protector switches off. Push it again and the surge protecter turns on. Will definitely save electricity by cutting power to devices that are always on standby.
Only problem with the unit I received was that initially the remote switch would not turn the surge protector on. I thought that I might have to return it, until I checked the frequency settings for the remote switch and the surge protector. Switched them to match and the unit worked like a charm. It seems that the factory set settings did not match.
This highlighted a key feature of this unit. You can use one remote switch to control your entertainment system's surge protector, and a seperate remote switch to control your PC system's surge protector, OR you can use one remote to control two surge protectors.
