Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin AG110030-04 Energy-Saving Surge Strip for Home TheaterCustomer Review: Does what it's says, has other uses too! Summary: 5 Stars
This item is NOT only useful as an energy saver. It's also a simple reset switch for your home's network/internet.
I have a combination of a cable modem and a wireless router that have an ugly habit of getting hung. I also have a less-technical family member who doesn't know one item from the other, and doesn't feel comfortable unplugging one or the other to power cycle them.
I am using these two in exactly the OPPOSITE way everyone else here seems to. I have my PC and my monitor plugged into its outlets that never lose power. I have my cable modem and my wireless router (and some non-essential devices) plugged into its outlets that are controlled by the switch.
What's this give me? A simple way for anyone in my home to power cycle our cable modem and router. Click the switch off, then click it on. It provides a big and obvious switch that's attached to the side of my monitor. No more phone calls about "The web/email is broken" when I'm at work otherwise busy. No chance of coming home to have to find the power cable that was unplugged and then fell behind the back of the table.
Customer Review: Some issues Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered two of these and one just wouldn't work with the remote, no matter what I did. I contacted Belkin, and got an RMA for return. This took quite an extensive amount of time, as their automated web forms for returns did not list the model number within the drop down menus.I had to make 3 sepereate calls, to make it through the phone prompting and loops to be connected to someone who could help. Finally they sent me a replacement, but I had to pay for shipping to return the bad unit.
The replacement and the original unit worked perfectly. I could of gotten one of those statistically bad Units, but what a pain getting it replaced for something that never worked out of the box, and ended up costing me extra money. I would say the working product may be a five star, but with my experience with Belkin I can only give a three star. I pray to not have a unit fail within warranty just so I don't have to be out more money or go through the experience again. I will look for another manufacturer product next time because of this experience.
Customer Review: Shoddy quality of remote Summary: 1 Stars
I really loved the concept of this power strip.
I used the strip to completely power-off my TV, audio gear and game systems at night and during the day to help save a few watts of power. In that respect, it worked wonderfully. Our electric bill dropped by about $15 a month.
Where this product fails though is with the remote click device. In short, its lifespan is way too short.
Our first clicker failed after about two months, at which time I shipped it back to Belkin for a free replacement (I paid for shipping). Within a month, the replacement clicker failed too. After the second time, I decided that I'm not going to waste my time with it any longer.
With the clicker not working, the product fails to live up to its purpose: making it easy to save electricity by cutting off power to your electronics.
It's now a $45 power strip. Save your money and look for another solution.
Customer Review: Works great but the remote is clunky Summary: 5 Stars
This item works as expected but as another reviewer wrote the remote is kinda clunky -- in my case it doesn't aways toggle the on/off state -- I.E. the "switch" is in the off position but it hasn't powered down the items attached to the switched outlets.
N.B. I put "switch" in quotes because I'm guessing that the actual electrical switch is some type of micro-switch under the external [plastic] rocker. I need to press the switch in a very specific location to get the rocker to engage with the electrical switch underneath.
I guess that it's supposed to mimic the Leviton Decora type switches, maybe Belkin should contract with Leviton to design/implement a v2 of this switch.

Customer Review: Fully switch off power Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using this power strip for about 9 months now with no issues. I installed (with the included double sided tape) the remote switch to the wall right by the light switch for the living room. When we go to bed, it is easy to just push both switches. We use the "always on" plugs for the cable box/dvr and the remote control charger. The receiver, TV, dvd player and Wii all go on the "power saver" plugs. This is particularly useful for the Wii, as there is no real way to power it off otherwise. As a caution: you should always turn the appliance power off with its own remote before cutting the power at the power strip. You can damage your TV if you repeatedly shut it off by using he power strip.
