Customer Review: Good, but no stereo

Of course, this is a steal because it's so cheap. I use it every day to listen to music in my car, but I usually notice that the right audio is much, much softer than the left. Usually, this doesn't bother me, since the driver's seat is next to the left speaker. However, some artists like to take advantage of stereo recording and put different audio in the left than in the right. When this happens, I can fix it by moving the audio balance to the right until the left and right are at equal levels. When I do this, though, I have to crank the volume up since the overall volume went down, and it gets distorted when it's too loud (due to the tape deck not being built for high volumes coming through this adapter). So, it would be better if both right and left worked.
My other grievance against this product is that it says something like 'this adapter can be inserted in two different ways; if one doesn't work try the other.' This is an outright fabrication, as I flipped it around and popped it in one day to try to solve the left-right problem and it got firmly stuck in the tape player. It was there for a month before I spent 30 minutes with a coat hanger and a flashlight trying to fish it out.
Overall, a good product if you have low standards. If you have high standards, I would recommend a new stereo faceplate with an 'aux-in' port. Perfect stereo support and not a chance of getting stuck.
