After doing a lot of research on USB hubs I settled on this one (but with the dark finish). I am running a Macbook Pro ver. 10.5.7. I have been using it 24/7 with an external hard drive, mouse, usb audio controllers, pin drives, etc. and it has worked flawlessly. The cable bundler is convenient. You might have minor stationary problems as the unit is not very heavy. Its wide footprint helps make up for it. I am a audio producer and it is very important for all my equipment to run safely and smoothly throughout the creative process. This USB hub has allowed me to do that with confidence. If your looking for a multiple port USB solution, look no further, this unit is fast and reliable. It has exceeded my expectations.Customer Review: It just works with the Macbook Pro Laptop!

I don't know what it is with USB hubs, but I've purchases several in the past (mostly for Windows computers) and they just didn't work well. Typically something I plugged into the hub would stop working. Or the hub would conk out on me after a week or two.
Very weird. I got to the point of not using USB hubs.
I got a new Macbook Pro laptop for work and needed a hub. The Amazon reviews on this one were good, so I took the chance.
It works great. Easy set-up and works with everything I've thrown at it so far. (iPhone, camera, printer, mouse, keyboard, USB jump drive, etc.)
I'll update this review if things change, but for right now ...
Highly recommended.

The device can not handle the power consumption of the USB devices plugged into it. If I plug too many devices into the hub, they won't start. I wanted a device for the extra USB ports to handle a printer and an external hard disk, plus the occasional memory stick and camera. The printer and hard disk were intended to be on all the time. If they are, and I plug in a memory stick, the memory stick won't power up. If I shut off the printer, then the memory stick will power. On most occasions, I have to plug and unplug/replug the USB devices in the hub to get them to work. The hub is connected to an iMac, which could also be some of the problem. Bottom line - the device is useless as a multi-port solution.Customer Review: Can't Handle External Hard Drives

I purchased this hub for its great design, 7 ports, and reliable Belkin quality.
Unfortunately, the hub stopped working correctly after about 9 months.
-Computer will not recognize my Maxtor external hard drive when connected through the hub (yes, HD drivers are up to date; Belkin router has no updated driver available). I have to unplug and replug the usb cord. Now that doesn't even work.
-Hub used to get insanely hot. Now doesn't?
I THINK that the hub may not be receiving power anymore from its adapter. When computers have trouble recognizing external hard drives connected through usb hubs, that is usually a symptom of an un-powered usb hub.

I have gone though numerous more affordable hubs on my wife's computer which regularly has 3-5 USB devices plugged into it, including printer, USB key, ipod, digital camera, and others. They all seem to start flaking out eventually and dropping out and coming back. I finally decided to got for a more mainstream branded product from Belkin. It has held up well so far.
The features of this hub are really nice to have. My wife really appreciates the easy top load USB key plugs in slots and the cord keeper for her digital camera cable. Now her camera cord is always within easy reach and she no longer has an extension cable sitting on her desk to plug in a USB key.
