Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini HubCustomer Review: Cord Seems to be Twisted Upside Down Summary: 2 Stars
I've been using this hub since Feb 2010 and for practical purposes it gets the job done. The hub on mine appears to be attached upside down or the cord got twisted when it was built. When I plug the hub's usb into my laptop, the Belkin hub is upside down and the other usb plugs I attach face upright. I would literally have to twist the cord tail rather tightly if I wanted the Belkin to be right side up and I don't want to risk breaking internal wires. I agree with other users that have 4 usb plugs going in 4 different directions is not convenient. Overall, neither of these issue are a big deal, just irritants. I need a second hub and will look a better design.
Customer Review: Compact, easy to install, multiplies USB connections Summary: 5 Stars
The Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra Mini Hub turns one USB port into four. I especially like its compact size and that it does not require an independent power supply (i.e., no transformer cluttering up my power bar). It was securely packaged, installed in seconds on Windows XP, did not require a driver CD, and does not noticeably slow input/output from my USB devices (camera, DVD reader/writer, and backup archive). On the down side, any USB hub will suffer if several USB devices are connected with heavy, simultaneous and sustained traffic to/from the computer. I think the Belkin Hi-Speed USB port is excellent value for the price.
Customer Review: Very small and well made Summary: 5 Stars
Got this for my Dell Latitude E4200 that has 1 USB port. With this, I can plug in my mouse and my Toshiba or Western digital USB drives. As others have said, if your device requires power, this is not what you want. This device has a short cable, but that's a plus to me as it makes it pack smaller. Great value for the money.
One thing I did notice is that if I have 2 USB harddrives attached thru the hub, I got errors accessing one of the drives. It's as if the operating system can't figure out which one the data is coming from. Did not do any reasearch yet to determine if this is an error, normal, or something I'm doing wrong.
Customer Review: Terrible Product Design! Summary: 2 Stars
Okay, it's supposed to be "compact" but it's designed with the 4 USB ports facing in all 4 directions, 90 degrees from each other, so all the items you plug in spread out to take up way too much space! See the photo - hardly compact once you have things plugged into it. Aside from that, it works like most other USB hubs. Nothing special. Many points taken off for counter-ergonomic design, I wouldn't recommend to anyone who wants a tidy desktop. I recommend Targus ACH103US USB 2.0 4-Port Bend-A-Hub With Mini USB Adapter (Black).
Customer Review: Works fine, but has some problems Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this little hub so I could have more ports. It arrived in a timely matter and I plugged it right up. It doesn't need any software or anything so that was a plus. I only have two complaints about the hub. One and the most important, is that it messes my system up. Say I'll turn my computer off. When I try to turn it back on, it refuses to start until I unplug the hub. Second and less important is that the usb cable is rather short and won't fit on my desk. I primarily use the hub for my desktop computer and not my laptop.
But besides those two problems, I really liked this purchase!
