Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin Pivot-Plug Surge Protectors

Customer Review: Excellent surge protector
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this surge protector to replace one that apparently did not do its job (i.e. I wound up losing a hard drive due to a surge). So far so good with this one, and luckily I haven't had a surge (knock on wood) while owning it. The pivoting outlets are incredibly convenient as is the wire fastener. If you plan on mounting this unit to a wall be sure to provide enough space between any base-board moulding you may have and the unit to accommodate an outlet pointing directly downward with a power block connected. This surge protector also comes with an "Items Connected" warranty with very good coverage (under specific circumstances), so definitely read the paper included in the packaging describing the coverage if it's something you may need.

Customer Review: Some Nit-Picking
Summary: 5 Stars

I just love the pivoting outlets, but even without them pivoted, there is room for the larger regular plugs to fit next to the transformer plugs. All this in a space-saving design, too.

The only areas of complaint I have is the description of the cord: "A right-angle plug helps you better manage your furniture by keeping the 8-foot cord close to the wall..." As you can see by the picture, this is not a right-angle plug. The other complaint is the miniscule lettering on the tape (i.e. instrucions)for he RJ11 jacks. Bring along a magnifying glass if your eyesight is anything but perfect.

This product has yet to be tested for it's purpose -- protection against surges. If, and when this does occur, I will do a follow-up.

Customer Review: Definitely simplifies things - ideal for use with home theater system
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm very happy with this surge protector - we've got a television, dvr, dvd player and a Wii hooked into it, plus we're running the cable through it into the television. We've lost a television in the past due to surging, and Florida summers are filled with thunderstorms. Of course, I don't know whether this will really protect in the next thunderstorm especially if there were a direct hit (there's thunder outside as I type this...) but I do expect it will protect against less serious power surges, which do happen on occasion. This gives me peace of mind - especially with the $300,000 connected equipment warranty. Plus, it's a lot neater than my old powerstrip, and a lot more roomy for the larger plugs with adapters built into them.

Customer Review: Flexible, but still a little tightly packed
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a very well-designed surge protector. The 8 pivoting plugs which are arranged to the outside offer good flexibility in terms of where to plug in various components of your media set up, be it computer, entertainment system, or whatever. Inclusion of Coax outlets to protect against surges through you cable line is nice as well.

I would have given this five stars, except the outlets are still too closely arranged to accommodate some of the bulky plugs/transformers on many devices. I ordered the 12-plug version anticipating that I'd "loose" at least 2-3 outlets because of crowding, and I was right. Overall, an excellent product, is as described, but could use a little further engineering to make it a 5-star knockout.

Customer Review: The middle plugs are a little difficult to use.
Summary: 4 Stars

This seems to be a pretty good surge protector, especially for the price. The pivot-plug system does work as it is supposed to, though I'm not exactly sure how beneficial of a feature that really is. As some other reviewers have said, the middle plugs are a little difficult to plug things into. I have to angle the plug in at first to get it to go. But once it's in it seems to work fine.
