Customer Review: You'd be crazy not to buy this surge protector
Summary: 5 Stars

I have seen this on other websites for $20-$30 dollars more. Are they serious?! I believe that Amazon sold this at a very fair price (a steal) considering what you're liable to plug into this surge protector. Very bulk, sturdy, yet lightweight material on this thing. I just received mines today, and I have got to say that this is probably the first time I have gotten something that looked like what was pictured on the box/website. What I like about it is the black pivoting sockets on the sides of the surge protector. This will and does allow you to plug in those big, bulky, bad-boys known as AC adapters. Anyone who has computers, speakers, and portable phones know how annoying these things can be. They get in the way of another socket, and so the adapter actual takes two sockets instead of one. Not anymore! plug in your big adapters on the side, and use the sockets in the middle for your other natural adapters. I have my XBOX 360, PS3, external HDD, Samsung HDTV, two DVD players, and 505 watt Logitech Speakers plugged into this thing. Trust me, lighting may only strike once, and rarely twice, so don't go unprotected another day without the proper surge protector. And the best thing is the price Amazon is offering. This Christmas will see a ton of electronic equipment, and what better item to go along with all of those computers, gaming consoles, and HDTVs then an affordable, high-quality surge protector.

Customer Review: Good value, but only buy if you need 8, not 12, plugs.
Summary: 3 Stars

This Belkin surge protector is an excellent value for the dollar--Belkin products are on par with Monster, but Monster will cost 2-3x as much.

I originally purchased this surge protector for my home theater system, which I previously had on a Monster protector; however, I needed more plugs to solve a ground loop situation that I was incurring. After shopping around, I found Amazon had the best deal on this Belkin protector.

While solving the ground loop problem, I can confirm, much to my disappointment, that only eight of the twelve plugs are functional. The four plugs in the middle are unusable--I have tried several items, none of which will fit into those four plugs. All of them will go about halfway, then stop--trying to push the plug further in sounds like I am trying to push through plastic.

I have noticed that all of the plugs took a small amount of force to push the cord into; however, the eight pivot-plugs work fine. I had originally envisioned to only use eight plugs, then have an extra four for future use, but now that I am using all eight functional plugs, I am having second-thoughts about this purchase.

In summary, this is a good surge protector; however, only eight of the twelve plugs are functional--be aware of this prior to purchasing!

Customer Review: Great Surge Protector At A Great Price
Summary: 5 Stars

I was looking for good multiple outlet device for a recharging center I built for all our rechargeable devices, e.g. cell phones, PDAs, Kindle, etc. This Belkin Pivot-Plug protector is ideal because it allows for tilting the individual outlets to accommodate those large voltage regulators that many rechargeable devices require. My recharging center was easy to make and much less expensive than the ready-made ones that I've seen. I just used a small antique cabinet that we use as a TV stand for our small kitchen TV. Inside I added thin shelves, mounted the Belkin unit at the back, drilled a hole in the back to allow the Belkin unit to be plugged in, then plugged in all our recharging units and attached the ends of each cord to a shelf. I then labeled the place on each shelf for the appropriate device and, voila! Now when something needs recharging I just open the cabinet door, plug the device in at its own place, and close the door. All the recharging takes place behind the cabinet door, out of sight. And no more fumbling in a drawer for the right recharger, plugging it in, then wrapping it up and returning it to the drawer after the device is recharged. It's a big improvement for not much money, and the Belkin Pivot-Plug Surge Protector made it possible.

Customer Review: One Huge Design Flaw for 3-prong transformers
Summary: 2 Stars

The idea behind this is great, with the rotating outlets for transformers. However, look carefully and you'll see that they've blown it. On each side there are 4 rotating outlets, which are very close to each other. No problem, you might think, since you can rotate them. So let's assume you'll try to alternate one transformer with the outlet stick straight up with the next rotated 90 degrees so that the alternate transformer is plugging in at a 90 degree angle to the first one.

This works, except that if you have a 3-prong transformer there is only one way they will plug in, and that's with the cord sticking out/down, which means that the Belkin won't sit flat but will have cords pointing 'down', forcing it up in the air and putting stress of the cords running from the transformer. If many of your transformers are only 2-prong then you may be able to insert them so that this isn't an issue.

Belkin makes another 12 outlet device that's similar except that it's flatter and doesn't have rotating outlets. It only handles six transformers (3 per side) but they are very widely spaced. Also, it is heavier and seems of much higher quality.

Customer Review: The pivoting outlets work for me
Summary: 4 Stars

12 outlets is a lot and I do not expect to fill up every one of them as I hate spaghetti power cord configuration. I expect to plug in a few power bricks and some regular ones. Does the 8 pivoting outlets work? In fact it does, my power adapters instead of hanging on top with their own weights (which sometimes in time loosen the contacts because of gravity), are now better supported as you can angle the adapter to partly touch the floor. You also have less cords shooting up straight in the air.

This one replaced my UPS as I got tired of dead batteries, and also the bulkiness and the weight. I never once benefited on a UPS it as we only had a couple of power interruptions for the life of my device. I already have the habit of saving my work every few minutes, so unless I work on some very important and super sensitive material, I figured I don't need a UPS at all.

In terms of Joule rating (4320), this is one of the best ones for the price. It has an 8-foot cord that is long enough for my purpose. It has an of and on, protected and grounded indicator lights.
