Customer Review: Surge protector with a twist
Summary: 5 Stars

After years and years of using surge protectors in which there were always unusable outlets because of product design, fially a company comes up with one that is affordable to most of us. This unit is well constructed, and solid, plenty of oulets with the ability to rotate. The covered outlet is virtually eliminated, I could see that in extreme cases you might be able to block a couple of them, but with 12 outlets you won't be missing much. With technology as it is today this protectector covers the most common connections of cable, and phone also(has one phone in, with 2 phone out). All these features essentially make it perfect for home use. If you have a CAT 5 connection your out of luck.
There are also mounting holes on the back if you wish to connect to back of entertainment center, the wall, etc.. I got the one with the 8' cord from personal experience, but that is mostly just preferance, I always seems to run into a situation with most of my surge protectors where I want a longer cord.
Only thing I would like to see on this are built in outlet covers, but I do not think most people want these so most companys go with that, and you can get very inexpensively ones seperately, and install them yourself if it is that important to you, I just like to keep dirt and stuff out of an outlet that usually is on the floor where everything can get in it. I will update if I get any new pros or cons on this item.

Was reading other reviews, and thought I should add this, hope it helps;
Hopefully most of you understand that the joules rating is the amount of energy that the unit can handle in a surge, the actually rating of normal steady state power through the units is essentially the same as the watts/ per unit time. That would be that for the 12 outlet version which is rated for 1800watts that it is rated for 1800joules/sec. Please remember to add up the watt ratings of all the items you plug into the surge protector, and not to exceed the limit for the surge protector. The 4320 joules is the actually surge power, do not forget to look at unit response time for handling the increased energy, because that would let you know the amount of time that your electronics will see the surge before your device cuts power.

All that said the Belkin surge protectors meet the industry standard for time to respond for a class 3 surge protection device, which is what you will find for most plug in surge protectors. I hope this helps for those who do not know much about joules.

Customer Review: The Best Power Strip I've Tried
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the biggest problems you'll ever face when buying a good power strip/surge protector is finding one that can handle a wide variety of plugs and adapters. Some companies think a little bit ahead and give you a few extra spaces for the classic "wall warts", but often times not enough and they'll look really sloppy and become unbalanced.

The Belkin Pivot-Plug Surge Protector goes a step beyond and takes care of many of these problems with a little thought, foresight, and ingenuity. Anything I can throw at it (within reason), it can handle just fine.

The addition of a power switch is a very useful feature as are the indicator lights. It's also a very attractive design which is nice since they're often times plainly visible under a desk or on a shelf.

As far as the surge protection goes, I can't speak on that feature yet and I hope that I'll never have to. Belkin has a good reputation, so I'm confident that it will do the job well when the day might come.

The one and only real complaint I have about this power strip is that Belkin really should offer these in both the flat plug and the traditional straight plug design. I prefer flat plugs because they fit tighter against the wall which looks better and keeps the cord out of the way. However, I can see the advantages of using a straight plug in certain situations where you're not able to use the bottom socket of an outlet. It's a matter of preference and differing circumstances, really, but Belkin should consider offering both options in the future.

All in all, this product is a real winner. A solid Five Stars out of Five from me. After I purchased the first one, I went back and bought a couple more. As far as I'm concerned, you can never have too many of these around.

Customer Review: Bad power button, 4 defective ones in a row!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought 2 of these at full price because of the great design and I thought it was very well thought out since the outlets are able to pivot. I thought I'd never need another power strip again after buying 2 of these since they can handle so many things being plugged in at once.

Within 1 month the problem started and unfortunately it is a big problem. The units would start turning off by themselves! The first few times I thought it was a short power outage in my area.
I have used a lot of power strips and I have never had any problem with any before so I never thought it was the power strip that was the problem. When I realized it was not my homes power I felt ripped off. It got to the point where as soon as you pushed down on the power button it would start making clicking sounds and turn off by it's self. The power strips turning off on my work computers coast me a lot of time and money.

I contacted the company and they sent another batch of them instead telling me it would not happen again and that mine were just defective. They would not refund my money and only sent more to me. The next set of them had the same problem within a month and now I'm writing this review to warn people it's not just a few that are defective and it is all of them.

There are a lot of positive reviews about this product but they all must only be from people that don't touch the power button often and just leave it on all the time. The more you push down the power button to turn on the power the more chance my situation will happen to you.

I recommend a product with a flip switch instead of a button that may have faulty springs under the power switch or whatever is causing the problem I have experienced.

Customer Review: A tangled mess no more!
Summary: 4 Stars

The Belkin Pivot-Plug Surge Protectors recently popped up on a Gold Box Deal and because of the discount I decided to go for it. At the time we had not one, but two small surge protectors behind our entertainment center providing power to our Samsung LCD HDTV, Cable Modem, Sylvania Blu-ray Player (Black), Western Digital TV Live Hub, Digital Cable Receiver, Samsung Upconverting DVD Player and Wireless Router. It was a BIG tangled mess that I had wanted to organize for quite a while. As soon as I received it I went to work pulling out the TV stand, turning everything off and organizing all the cords. Because of each plugs different size, shape and number of prongs I did take the time to make sure their configuration was the best use of space and once I was finished, I was very pleased with results. Not only was I able to get all of our electronics into one surge protector, but I still have room to add more if needed in the future - plus no more mess! In addition to this item, I also bought these 8-Inch Velcro Cable Ties to tame the too long cords. For the price I paid it was well worth it and I will definitely look to Belkin for my future outlet needs.

Customer Review: Great Surge Suppressor per Dollar
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best price/feature power strip/surge suppressor. It has 12 outlets (Thats a lot for a power strip). The cord is immensely long, about 10 feet. Inexpensive power strips like this usually skimp on the power cord length. Not this one. The outlets along the sides swivel, so you can plug in more large (AC adapter, battery charger) type plugs.

The outlets really hold on to the plugs. It can be difficult to get plugs into the outlets. But they don't slip out. The price on this item seems artificially low. So I bought one. One noticeably missing feature is a telephone line inlet and outlet for surge suppressing telephone line lightning strikes.

The unit does have a coax cable inlet and outlet for protection of the cable modem, and network from lightning. I didn't bother running the cable through the unit, because the risk of lightning strikes on cable lines is pretty remote. But you can't be too careful. I'll probably do it sometime.

I used the accessory bar as a hanger to hang the unit from the edge of a wire shelving unitMetro style Chrome Steel Wire Shelves NSF Shelving 48"L x 18"W x 72"H. I can fit more plugs in it that way. And, it's more convenient when it's up off the floor. The twelve outlets can help solve ground loop problems.

Sometimes matched components need to share the same ground. No one should have more than 12 things that all need the same ground. If you don't know what a ground loop is, don't worry about it. Just remember that sometimes two things won't work together unless they are plugged into the same power strip (TV + DVD Rec.; Computer + Printer).
