Customer Review: Good surge protector to help with tangled cords

In general this is a really good product; I'll explain the four stars under cons. We bought one and I am buying another.
Pros: (in order of importance to me)
-Really helps with cable clutter near the power strip
-Flat plug (mounts flat to wall, and reasonable length cord)
-Reasonable size 12"X5"X5" approximately
-Flexible mounting (floor, wall, etc)
Notes:
-Has on off switch, saw a question about this in another post.
-Construction is typical plastic, not what I would call sturdy but fine for the purpose
-Not rated for use near water (common on many surge protectors)
Cons:
-BlockSpace are ONLY rated for 4 amps TOTAL. This means if you run out of
normal plugs and use the mini plugs you should not plug in a heater, laser
printer, etc. This is why I take off one star, it wouldn't have been hard
to pull wiring to the mini block that would have given it the same rating as
the rest of the product.
-Mini blocks don't take fold out plugs (at least not my Motorola charger)
-No online manuals, I like to download the manual with each product I buy
yes, it is only a surge protector but that 4 amp limit is important to remember.
So, if you want to reduce clutter and remember not to plug high power devices into the BlockSpace outlets this is an excellent product. In fact, I am not aware of any really good alternatives to this product.
Customer Review: Not perfect, but what surge protector is?

The concept is great. The actual design is not perfect. It's intention is to hide wires, but I doubt that one can fit 6 outlets worth of wirings.
This product is approx 10 inches wide and 3 inches in length. For being the "mini" version, I don't find it to be small at all.
All in all, I am happy with it. I only use 4 outlets and I put it on my desk so it makes my workspace much neater. The extra outlet on the side helps a lot. I like to shut down all the power running to my machines at night so the on/off button is a plus as well.
I spilt orange juice over my old surge protector so it was time to shop for a new one. I went to Target to check out what they had before I bought this and their cheapest option was a regular Belkin surge protector for $9.99. Maybe they had better deals at another Target, but I decided that I might as well upgrade since how many times do you really spill OJ on your power strip anyway? Either way, this box enclosure is a good idea to prevent accidents like that from happening again.
I was also looking into the Bluelounge boxes but I couldn't convince myself to spend $30. So my compromise was this product and I am happy with it!

This product is a great idea. I was looking for a surge protector that was also child friendly. I tried the Safety1st electrical strip cover and returned it immediately. It was not practical if you wanted to unplug stuff occasionally.
Overall, i like this product. It does exactly what it is supposed to but it's hinges are very weak. I had the product for only a week before i had to open it to unplug something and the knob on the hinge broke off! Now, the cover is just sitting on the strip looking like it's covered.
I would still recommend this product but be careful when opening it. This is a very good product for what it's designed to do. I gave it three stars because of the weakness of the hinge.

I bought 2 of these to help clear up the clutter in my office. I just ordered 2 more.
Pros:
1. Huge space for cords. I love the fact that I can tie each cord individually and then slam it into the extra space provided.
2. Looks good. When it is all closed up this unit looks like a built-in part of the baseboard. My 18 month old walked right by it.
3. Great outlet placement. There are 3 outlets for big plugs and then 3 outlets for normal plugs. There is also an outside outlet giving you a total of 7 outlets.
4. Sturdy. The unit looks and feels solid. It doesn't tip over or get moved around.
This is a great product and would definitely recommend it.

We used this device in an office and it was simple to install, offered plenty of outlets, and nicely concealed the mess of wires. For the price, you can't beat this surge protector. If you're not concerned about cable management, I'd highly recommend the Smart Strip LCG3 Energy Saving Power Strip with Autoswitching Technology. It delivers the same surge protection and number of outlets but adds great power saving features.
