When shopping for computer peripherals, I always look for a solid product that simply works while keeping a low profile. What drew me to this particular hub was the fact that it didn't have any lights to draw attention to itself. However upon first use, I was disappointed to discover that the power adapter emitted a shrill noise. Being something that would take up permanent residence in my bedroom, this was unacceptable. I've had this hub on my Mac iBook for a few months now. Great for docking -- keyboard, mouse, hard drive, camera all plug into it, then just one cable to attach to my laptop. Since all my devices are low-power, I can use it without the power adapter, but having the power adapter is a nice bonus when required by high-power devices. The power cable is entirely too short, though, just 2.5 feet. The hub is quite small, smaller than a deck of playing cards.Customer Review: Tiny and elegant

This really is very small and the power cable really is very short. I've velcroed this to the side of my cabinet and it is very unobtrusive. The power source is only about 2.5 feet long, so if that's a problem you might want to look elsewhere.
Also, I couldn't find the spec anywhere, but the connection to the computer requires a mini-USB connector so it is not compatible with the A connector that Amazon sold me with it.

I'm running 2 external disks and an HP printer/fax machine from this hub. All are working great. I learned that I could not plug my USB mouse into this hub. The mouse had to be plugged into the one of the PC's USB ports directly. This hub is small enough to sit on my desk, behind one of my LCD monitors. I'm very happy with it, and I've been happy with all of my Belkin products. They are not fancy, they just work.Customer Review: Ports too close together

Its small, but the ports are too close together. I can only fit 2 jump drives/usb adapters into it, leaving 2 ports I can't use for jump drives. Only small usb cords will fit in those slots now. Would have been more functional with just a 1/2" extra length. I have all kingston and transcend USB drives and they don't fit side by side. Frustrating. Received this as a gift at my own request. May return it, not sure yet.
