Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin High-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Mobile HubCustomer Review: Works great -- no problems Summary: 5 Stars
It's pretty straightforward, but it works great. I use it on my PS3 to expand the USB ports and it works great (a must if you use Rock Band, you need a powered switch). Also the gloss black finish goes great with the PS3, even though I mounted mine to the bottom of a shelf to save space.
One side note, I don't know if this is in the instructions or anything, but you actually don't need to use the power adapter if you don't want -- it will still work fine with periphials that don't need the extra power.
Customer Review: Great for Xbox 360 or PC Summary: 5 Stars
I actually bought this hub for my Xbox 360 since I've not only got all of the Rock Band instruments to plug in but also the wireless network adapter, the HD DVD player, and the web cam. It works great.
Also, with a couple of other Belkin USB hubs I have, I noticed that the power supplies have a very high-pitched whine when they're plugged in. I even got their support to swap me power supplies, but it's just the kind of power supply. I haven't noticed that with this hub's power supply, which is nice.
Customer Review: Works well; power cable ludicrously short Summary: 4 Stars
Device works well, and with 7 ports provides a lot more utility than the more common 4 port models. Looks nice, very lightweight.
As mentioned by another reviewer, the power cable (used if you need more power draw than from just the computer USB port) is ridiculously short, nearly unusably so. So if you have a handy electrical socket close by your computer, or won't be needing to power it, this is a good hub. If you do need a powered hub, the ludicrously short cable could cause problems for you.
Customer Review: Its good but some issues. Summary: 5 Stars
First of all i thought that it would feed power from the laptop itself. Instead it has a power cord that you have to plug in order for it work AT ALL. I found It will not turn on if the cord is not attached. and it cord length is pretty short. not very good if you power source is across the room and your desk is elsewhere. But other than that. i works like it should, the actual hub seems plastic but built nicely. its semi- transparent so you can see the usb ports inside which looks kind of nice.
Customer Review: Great hub, stylish. Cable is a joke. Summary: 2 Stars
This is a very stylish hub, works well and is much smaller than it appears in the pictures.
The bad news: The power cable that it comes with, and which is required for a lot of Hardware that draws power the USB port cannot provide is WAY too short. In fact, it's positively a joke, and completely useless. It's maybe half a meter. Less than 3 feet. It won't even touch the floor from my table-top, much less have any chance of ever reaching a power outlet.
