Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin High-Speed USB 2.0 7-Port Mobile HubCustomer Review: Disconnects on its own! Summary: 1 Stars
This USB hub is a great size and has the benefit of ports on both the front and back. However, I very often get an "improper device removal" on a connected flash drive, even though I haven't removed the device. I returned the unit, received a replacement from Belkin, and the problem remains. The hub continues to improperly eject a connected flash drive, usually right when I'm in the middle of working on a file contained on that drive! This makes the hub absolutely useless, and unfortunately I'll need to find a replacement. Having read a few other reviews, I see I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
Customer Review: Perfect for travel, compact, lots of ports, but short power cable. Summary: 4 Stars
Great travel companion. Designed to be small, light, and compact. Has plenty of ports for your USB devices. Added power adapter is a plus for those power hungry devices. Only drawback, and many reviewers have said this already, is the short power adapter. If you have a powerstrip under your desk and you want the Belkin hub to sit on your desk, then the power adapter cord will be too short. You'll have to add a power extension cable of some sort. But I'm guessing the short power cable is by design. After all, this is being marketed as a 'mobile' hub. Other than that, this is a great hub for the price.
Customer Review: Bad Circuit Summary: 2 Stars
If you connect more than one power hungry device like 2.5" external HDDs or iPods,
it will disconnect all other existing connections and will not supply
enough power to the device. Then you will have to disconnect the hub itself from
the computer, and connect again. I used this product over a year, but it always
was painful to use. It's good for simple devices like flash drives,
but not more than that. It's not really a powered-USB-hub even though it comes
with a power-brick. Looks good, but that's it. Avoid this product.
Customer Review: Excellent Purchase Summary: 5 Stars
Despite what all the nay sayers express about this USB Hub, it is an excellent peripheral to your PC. Before purchase, I had at best four USB ports on my PC, where now I have ten ports with the addition of the hub. I've one suggestion. If you're attaching a heavy duty peripheral to the hub, don't install an additional one right next to it. Use the other side. When encountering an aforementioned challenge, I find this procedure works for me. Peripherals requiring less energy can be plugged onto the Hub anywhere. The Hub is an excellent purchase, and if I need more USB ports, I'll buy another one.
Customer Review: My second mistake Summary: 2 Stars
This second Belkin usb 2.0 powered hub I bought, I never could get more than three devices to be recognized at once, just like the first Belkin hub. I figured it was my computer, and put up with it for quite awhile. One day I'm thinking about usb hubs and started reading Amazon reviews. It hit me that maybe the power supply to the Belkin hubs just wasn't adequate - I read that somewhere. I ordered a highly rated and inexpensive hub from the Cyberguys. And everything works, all seven ports all at the same time, and it doesn't seem to care what is plugged in. Never another Belkin for me.
