Customer Review: Worthless Power Cable on a great device

This device might be an awesome USB Hub. I will never find out as the power chord is about 3 foot long. It wont reach from my desk to my power strip on the floor. The USB Cable it comes with is however 6 feet long. This is the exact opposite that I would expect from a desktop hub. The thing is going to sit right next to my computer surely, and a long USB cable is the last thing I want.
On the plus side, it's compact, and it has a neat blue light. But like I said, given the length of the power chord, It's totally useless to me.

One of the laptops I use has only 2 USB ports, so I have to use a hub. Some of the devices are power hungry, such as USB speakers, USB scanner, etc., so I bought this powered hub. 7 ports are plenty for me to connect all USB devices simultaneously. Everything works great.
The blue LEDs are annoyingly bright, they are even brighter than the night lamps I used, so I unplugged those lamps and the area around the hub is still bright enough! I have to hide them behind the laptop's display well enough so that my eyes don't get bothered by them.

I bought this USB hub and it would not work on any of my USB ports on my computer. All my USB ports work because they were all working with whatever I put in them, printer, camera, etc. but after trying every USB port on my computer with this Hub, nothing worked attached to the hub. All my ports or 2.0. I called tech support and they told me to send it back, it didn't show up in the device manager, so I sent it back to Amazon.com. I bought this one Amazon.com after looking at what seemed like hundreds of these things. Didn't know if it would mess up my computer or not; but went and ahead and bought it.
I hooked it up with no trouble, plugged my digital camera line into it, and downloaded the pictures, and this worked great! My computer is in the back bedroom, and the bright blue light functions as a really neat night light.
All in all, a very good deal - would buy again.

Small & compact so it doesn't take up a lot of room on your desk. Plenty of ports. Just wish I could turn the light off at night. More like a night light right now. Works great and I'm really happy with it. I can plug in the wireless mouse, printer and camera. I'll have room for a wireless keyboard and perhaps a bigger monitor now. Plus it will make it much easier to unplug everything and take it with me when I have to travel.
