We keep this behind the end table in our family room next to the couch and easy chair. This stand is just great. Lightweight, firm,and nice looking. The laptop doesn't slide around (we use either my 15.6" or my wife's 17") when you shift in your seat. It's great! The *only* drawback that I can think of is that your legs will get warm from having this sit on your lap. But much cooler than having the hot laptop right on your lap! I purchased this cushtop stand BECAUSE of the positive reviews I saw here on Amazon and I'm satisfied with my decision!
It's the perfect laptop stabilizer- when I'm on a chair, on the sofa, on my bed or sitting on the floor.
I can type like normal without my arms or fingers tiring out & there's no need to hunch over and sprain my neck.
All I need now is to purchase a fan because of my over-heating laptop. Boo.

This cushioned notebook stand from Belkin is a best buy. By raising the height of the computer, either on the lap or the desk, the ergonomics are greatly improved. Less back strain and easier viewing (screen is closer to eye level) are two of the advantages. Flipping the stand over accomodates larger notebooks, and having an internal compartment provides convenient storage for external drives, extra cables, etc.Customer Review: Liked this so well, we have bought for grad. gifts

We purchased 2 of these; one for myself and one for my husband. We often use our seperate laptops on the weekend and found it to be very functional, lightweight, and yet solid. Makes using laptop sitting on the sofa or even in bed so much better - no more juggling on your knees and allows air to circulate while keeping your lap cool. I use this thing all the time. First, it keeps my laptop cool. I'll use it for 1 - 3 hours at a time and my computer does not overheat like it used to. Second, I love the open section, I'll put my ipod, phone in there when I'm using the laptop. It's very handy.
It sits comfortably on my lap when I'm sitting on the couch etc. It does not work very well if you're sitting at a table.
