Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Belkin F5L001 Laptop Cooling PadCustomer Review: very good at cooling Summary: 5 StarsCould be more durable and quiet, but where is very very good is cooling effects - EXCELLENT!!!
Customer Review: Motor burnt out after 6 months Summary: 1 StarsI've had most laptop coolers let me down. This was my 5th. I've had Targus Brand USB cords break so easily and the motor burn out. So When Belkin was recommended, I bought this in August 2009.
I must say it's almost equally as terrible. I found it to better than the others I've used in the past because
A. It was quieter than others I've used
B. The cord Didn't break like others I've used
C. it lasted longer than others I've used
BUT It didn't last. That's the problem.
I've had it since August 2009, So As I type this, 6 months, And the motor to the fan died.
I'm tired of Electronics not lasting. They're trying to get as many sales out of a person as possible. They do the exact same thing with Movies and Video games, which is why Wal-Mart, Target, iTunes ETC. will get a bonus song, a bonus DVD, A Bonus something. What ever they can do to get paying customers to buy it more than once, They'll do it
AVOID - it won't last.
Customer Review: Cools well; awkward and sometimes impractical Summary: 3 StarsThe Belkin Cooling Pad is very good at cooling my laptop. Not only does it lift it up to let in air flow, it also has a pretty effective fan blowing underneath it. When I'm done with my computer, I like to lift it up and feel how cool it is at the bottom.
But it's very awkward to place. You can only seem to place it on hard, flat surfaces; placing it somewhere like your bed tends to disrupt the fan (because this thing is very flexible and sensitive). Placing it on your lap is also difficult for this reason and, not to mention, it's pretty uncomfortable.
In fact, since my issue with heating almost always comes from when I'm using the computer on my bed, this cooling pad is very impractical for me. As of now, I'm typing on a bed using this cooling pad on top of a giant, hardcover, coffee table book. Needless to say, it's less than ideal. I can't even move around on my own bed.
As for noise, this unit really doesn't make much. Unless, of course, it's placed improperly. Which is something that happens much more often than I'd like.
Bottom line: Great for cooling; terrible for placement/positioning (unless you're just going to use it on your desk.)
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 3 StarsThis does the job as far as keeping your laptop from overheating. The thing I don't care for is that it is awkward if you want to actually use this on your lap as it has a stand that is used to prop it up so it digs into your legs and occaionally collapses. Another flaw with the stand is that it is supposed to fold down but there is nowhere for the cord to go through so it does not fold down properly.
Customer Review: It does the job it is supposed to do Summary: 5 StarsEven though this received mixed reviews, I decided to order it anyway, partially because it was in the right price range and partially because it was an Amazon product, thus, free shipping.
Took it out of the box, plugged it into my USB drive and set my netbook on it. Normally, I am practically sweating while using my netbook since it gets so hot. This keeps it and my lap cool, and is unobtrusive to use.
Very pleased.
